Waking up to eat?

I go to bed at 10:00 p.m., wake up at 6:30 a.m., my question is, would it be a good idea to wake up at about 2:30 a.m. or so to drink a Grow shake real quick, then go back to sleep? I’m thinking about trying this for two weeks to see if I notice any benefit, or would the interuption in sleeping be more harmful?

piper, it depends on how seriously you’re cutting or bulking. If you’re working out, eating clean and not too far from where you want to be, there probably isn’t any need to do so. However, if you’re doing some hardcore bulking and trying to pack in some calories in conjunction with busting your butt in the gym, it’s probably a good idea.

Same goes with cutting. If you’re in a serious cutting cycle and really pushing your limits, there, too, I think it would be helpful and protective of LBM.

I’ve recommended it for people when they miss one of their regularly scheduled meals. It’s a logical place to throw in the meal you missed.

In general, though, I’d say it isn’t necessary if you’re only sleeping 8 hours. But if you’re talking 12 hours from your last meal to breakfast, I’d strongly recommend it.

Personally, I’m a HUGE fan of waking up to eat. It can even help when dieting. Here’s an article on the topic.

Thanks,I’m actually thinking of doing it along with my son, he’s trying to put as much size on before 2 a days start in 4 weeks. He’s been making good progress, but knows he might drop some weight once Football starts.
