I have been reading a lot about the classic bodybuilders like steve reeves and was wondering if there were and specifix exercises to get/keep there waist so small? granted they had great upper bodies but steve reeves waist was said to be 28 inches.

Doubtful, and if it was, it was when in contest condition and sucked in. Brian Buchanan(above)had what is considered the smallest waist in bodybuilding and that was simply because of GENETICS. Avoiding overdevelopment of the obliques and being born with an extremely small waist would be the other ways to make sure your waist is that tiny. Otherwise, you do the best with what you have and create the ILLUSION of a smaller waist by increasing the size of your quads and shoulders.

from all you have read here about body building you think you should avoid deadlifts?
from what I have read some people think that they should be avoided. Even people who say you should do them say they will ad inches to your waist and make you look blockier.
