Tiny Waist

I remember in the 1980’s and earlier, the tiny waist compared to a wide and thick shoulder girdle was the prized law of the Iron Jungle…

Why has that seem to fall so far out of popularity?
Todays guys are in phenomenal shape, but often lack a slender ‘belly,’ Instead, they frequently sport massively developed abdominals and very thick obliques.

I want to be Refreshed on how to get that tiny tapered look.

I already have a wide rib cage, and am working on my shoulders more seriously.

I have a chronic lung condition that prevents me from any moderate- to high-impact aerobic activity, and my weight training depends largely upon Mentzer-type methods as well because they lack the Schwarzenegger-style mega-sets.

Does anyone have any tips or new improved ideas on how to get a very tiny waist?

It’s mostly due to use of HGH.

Wolf has got a pretty small waist, Evan Centopani too, Jeff Long. As for the tiny waist, I have been blessed with one from the factory for my size, widen the back and shoulders. I never do weighted oblique exercises. And as for the pros having huge guts, I believe that apart from the insulin and HGH the amount of food those bastards put down increases the size of the stomach itself.

I know because every weekend when I’m sitting around the house and their is not excuse to miss meals, I sport a mini beer gut with abs. I might be talking out my ass but hey, its my two centavos.

Frank Zane vs. Markus Ruhl

Coleman vs. Sergio

Coleman vs. Haney

Arnie vs. Coleman

Seems like a convex/concave thing going on.

Try the vacuum, it reduce 1 inch if you do it every 2 days, you perfect it once you get the vacuum working and can breath. as I said, it will reduce your stomach 1 inch.

i am posting this because I tried and worked.

If your problem is getting ride of fat around waist, I addressed that with a lot of kempo/yoga/cardio/plyometric taken from P90X. I did it for two months. (The avatar is really me, there is a before pic on my profile). i stoped because my gains staled and there is a little fat, I reached 8%, but it is not a good growing environment. And I was exhausted at night when lifting. The good thing: you can eat like a pig, whenever you want, whatever your want. Include plenty cups of green tea and you are done.

Give it a try, it is easy.

Holy shit mak, that’s disturbing. I mean im not taking anything away from king coleman or the Ruhl but fuck man is that a 40in waist.

I’m going to have to question the efficacy of that advice. Saying that everyone who does “the vacuum” 3 or 4 times a week will lose an inch off their waist is a little outlandish, based completely on how differently individuals respond to certain movements. What about the bodybuilders in the 70’s working on their posing routines. I’m pretty sure they practiced their vacuum pose pretty often… I have the feeling that their waists stopped shrinking at some point…

True. But the vacuum pose is somewhat of a “forgotten” pose, and is very effective at enhancing the illusion of wide shoulders and a very small waist. In the pics that Mak posted, Sergio, Haney, and Arnie are all doing vacuum poses, none of the modern BB’ers are.

I’m not so sure that vacuums will result in any drastic permanent reductions in waist size. Much of that has to do with bone structure/genetics. But, if you can master the vacuum, you can certainly give a more exaggerated illusion of having a small waist.

this hits the nail on the head. NONE of the older pics can be used AT ALL for comparison because they are all performing the vacuum pose, which creates an illusion of a super thin waist, compared to the photos of modern bodybuilders who aren’t performing said pose.

i think the point of the OP was to get something easy to just pose. maybe I am wrong, but he has to be carefull on cardio and wants something milder to get that look.

I think Zane is the best on vacuum use.

The point is that Coleman and Rhul can’t even pull off the vacuum. That has to be part of the reason it isn’t seen anymore. They enhanced their taper by building gigantic delts, as opposed to sacrificing muscle size to keep a smaller waist. When todays bodybuilders are on stage they are actually sucking in their gut and they STILL look like that.

Nive V taper… Bone2217…

Thanks.

To the OP if you want a smaller waist then you’ll most likely have to lose fat around your midsection, if you want the illusion of a smaller waist in photos you can start practicing a vacuum pose.

Sucking in their gut? Yeah. But most don’t practice the vacuum pose anymore. Rusty Jeffers is the only IFBB pro who still does a vacuum pose to the best of my knowledge. I do recall though that Coleman actually did practice the vacuum for a while to improve his appearance of a small waist while on stage. So you may be right in some cases.

Your waist is what it is. Be lean, do vacuums and otherwise make sure you work your transversus abdominis (which acts as an internal corset), don’t abuse HGH, and have a developed upper body. This will maximize what God gave you. You can’t shrink your bones. You CAN grow your internal organs which causes the distended look which is what the beachball crowd has done. Don’t do that.
