Well, after taking 4 months off due to a car accident where I broke my hand and my knee cap and I finally getting back to pushing some steel and I’m loving it!
Heres a vid of me doing rack lockouts, where I work up to 265 for 2 reps.

Feels sooooo good to be back in the game!

Thanks for the link. That’s really impressive. That’s what I’m working tonight. No where near 265 though.
I hope your feeling better after the accident. It must have been tough for you.

Thanks! and yes, I almost went out of my mind!!! Broken left hand and broken right knee cap, so no upper OR lower body strength exercises or even cardio to blow off steam!
I couldn’t drive because I was in a leg brace from my hip to my ankle so I was home bound as well
I hope to be back to where I was in another month or so.

Awesome job G. Glad to see your broken hand is not going to hurt your bench
I have never tried JM presses with DBs. Great video. I am going to try those.
Was that your official first day back in the gym, or had you been able to build up to that?
Is that your husband in the other videos? Was he involved in the crash too?

Hey Claire!! Yes you will love them. Focus on really pressing the DBs together as you are pressing them. Its a great exercise and I just noticed that they are featured on T-Nations home page this month, but they call them squeeze presses Maybe they watched my video and got inspired… hehehe

No that wasn’t my first day back. I got back in the gym the 2nd week in Dec. and just worked on really light weight working with cables and using hooks to lift weights, so I didn’t have to actually grip anything.
January 8th was my first “heavy” day on upper body:
I was pretty surprised that I hit 175 on bench, thats only 15lbs off from my best.
Just goes to prove that one doesn’t lose muscle when taking time off, its still there!!! You just have to wake it back up!
And no, my man wasn’t in the car with me, thank goodness. I was by myself. A lady ran a stop sign and I T-Boned her and totaled my car.
So I had a great lifting session today! Was squatting close stance in Olympic Lifting shoes… I was squatting ass-to-calves and got a fantastic “pop” out of the bottom!
I got 2 sets of 3 reps @ 215 lbs wearing only a belt!!! I was DYING to put 225 on the bar… but I reigned it in… the last set of the last rep was HARD… so 215 was good!
Anyway, I was pumped and hope to get 250 for a single next week.
Last night was my Max Effort Lower Body Day… I was REALLY hoping to hit 250 for a single (close stance, ass to grass) but I have been feeling a little fried lately so I wasn’t sure if I would do it. I tried to think positively… but realistically too! =D
SO… I ended up getting 235, and when I went for 245, my coach had to help me a tad… It really pissed me off that I needed a little help… but whatever… it’ still the most weight I have ever FREE SQUATTED. Plus it was ASS TO GRASS… the most I have done before now was a 245 lb BOX SQUAT that was an inch ABOVE parallel…
Just wanted to share!
Close Stance Barbell Back Squat
(ASS TO GRASS)
235 x 1
245 x 1 with a tad bit of help
245 x 1 with a tad bit of help
Have videos of the 235 x 1 and 245 x 1… Here they are:
Then I did some Step-Ups for 2 sets of 8 reps each leg @ 145
*** Also got a video of this!!! But my camera died after 6 reps on one leg =(
(Oh yeah, the video SAYS 135… that’s a typo. It’s 145… you can see the itty bitty 5 on the side =D)
So… killer lower body workout last night! LOVE IT!
Here is a video of a lift that I am SUPER PROUD OF! Me doing Reverse Lunges with 135:
I only got 4 reps each leg on Saturday… but I am positive that I could get 6! AFTER this lift, my coach took it down to 100 lbs and had me do 12 reps each leg! JERK! haha
