Visual Bodyfat Indications

Hey, seeing as though bf measurements can range greatly depending on which method one uses. What is a good visual indicator of where your bf is at. Now I know everyone is different but I just need some general guidlines. For example, if only the first two abs stick through your at X amount of body fat ect. Thank you for your replies. -Watts

I think this is not possible, as it’s too specific by person. For instance, I have a friend of mine who has done quite well in competition over the past 10 years (always in the top 5 since I’ve known him). You almost never see the guys abs, but his legs are ripped like you could not believe. I think the best way is to measure as many sites as possible using a good quality electronic calipers. If one of your measurement sites stands out, this is where you store your fat.

There’s no way to use any single bodypart
as an indicator. One guy will have pretty
well-cut legs at 20%, so for him legs are
no indicator… another guy will still have
softness in the legs at 6%. Someone else
will have plainly visible linea alba (ab lines) at around 20%, while another guy
can have a stomach that looks like a cellulite
disaster area at 9%. You have to go by the
total amount of “gooshiness” and fat all
over the body, not any one part.

A good indicator is to feel how your pants fit and look in the mirror.
