160x3,3
210x3
250x1
270x2
290x2 wanted 3 but I am not very acclimated to heavy log so the weight humbled me. Felt good though.
250x5 cleans and 5 split jerks. A lot of power here not a lot of technical prowess or cardio LOL. I blew up big time.

Incline DB Bench
100x10
100x8
100x8

Banded Overhead Rack Lockouts (bar height at forehead)
95x5
95x5
95x5
95x6 these were really hard. I don’t let off tension even on the pins. I keep tension and really accelerate. Kinda like cruising at 10 mph and flooring it, as opposed to a launch from dead stop.

I know I’m being obtuse, but to me you’re doing the traditional crab walk while standing up. You’re walking backwards, looking behind you, back very arched, probably clamping your thumb and fingers together quickly.

How are you carrying? I’m so far from your overhead numbers but I’m all in to challenge you to a carry-off.

LMAO! At the crab walk. It’s kinda like what you do with a sling shot hip circle on, but you’re squatted down to parallel and focusing on keeping your hips level.

I’m doing a bear hug, so the bag is vertical as I carry. I’d love to challenge on this! What do you have in mind fellow sick fuck?

My sandbag isnt very adjustable at the moment, and weighs 230. I have a 30’ space, so I can deal with the many turns and still push the distance. Or, I have a 100 lb medicine ball. I was thinking quarter to half mile, and to wait till the temperature is below 10° F or so

230 is close enough to 260. Maybe I can try to match your distance? Best I think we can do.

I’ll put on a weight vest. Tomorrow sounds like as good of a day as any to be miserable. I’ll report back with video.

Hey Vinny, hope it’s okay to use your log for this question: What kind of bar would you get as a multipurpose bar for strongman training? I could get a good deal at a IPF type powerlifting bar which would be very stiff. I don’t know however if that would be such a great choice for overhead pressing with leg drive. Would a weightlifting or “crosslifting” (I am guessing that means multi purpose bar) be a better fit? I plan on getting a deadlift bar later down the road, when it is available again.
@T3hPwnisher and everything else who may have an opinion on the matter: Please feel free to chime in.

Honestly, for all around bar, I just get an axle. Better for presses and pulls. I wouldn’t get a good powerlifting bar, since you’re gonna beat the hell out of it with strongman.

I have a texas deadlift bar that I literally never use. Pretty much anything it can do I can better with an axle. Squats are about the only x-factor, but I don’t do any barbell squats anymore. I either use a buffalo bar or SSB.

That’s interesting. I have an axle but don’t like it for pressing. If I use it too regularly it beats me up a lot more than a barbell (especially the elbows and biceps). Does that not happen with you?

I 100% agree with Pwn. I don’t use a barbell at all for overhead anymore, and the use of an axle for strengthening the deadlift and squat is tremendous.

I personally use a power bar for everything. It’s good enough across the board, and the specialty bars are best left for powerlifters to enjoy.

This is coming from someone who doesn’t even use elbow sleeves/knee sleeves. I’m very raw and bare bones, so my opinion might be a bit bias.

You two definitely got me thinking on my decision… Thanks for the input guys!

I love how this has become a point worth noting. When did sleeves and wraps become such a thing that it was seen as odd not to use them !!

Yeah, I get why one would be clad in all kinds of gear for a contest, but when a dude shows up to every session and looks like he fell into a pile of neoprene, I can’t take it seriously.

Can’t we just lift stuff…naked???

That said, I should probably get knee sleeves or elbow sleeves along with a soft belt sometime soon. I mean I’m selling myself a bit short. They’re definitely to be taken advantage of if you’re serious about competing.

I see this in the gym too. 20 something yr old Guys squatting at 70% with sleeves on. Whilst this old man is working at 85-90% with bare knees !!

I get why serious lifters use them and practice in sleeves or wraps as part of their training and I guess if I want to get more serious I will need to add some at somepoint too.
