Yes, Last Action Hero deserved an Oscar…and a Nobel Peace Prize.
No need for the sarcasm. Dude was just saying that he liked the movies - no different than millions of other people who paid to see Arnold in them.
A movie doens’t need to win an Oscar to be good. In fact, lots of movies that win Oscars suck donkey tails. Ever see Lost in Translation?
I am absolutely positive that he was being sarcastic as well. You didn’t really just throw an emotional fit, did you?
I was serious about his acting in True Lies.
Last Action is one of the films people hate but I love. I think it was really well written and done and he did a great job of making fun of himself. But I dont care if you dont agree. Hell it makes it more fun if people dont agree! No probs here X.
True lies was different. I have to give him credit for that one. I can only assume you haven’t seen Last Action Hero as an adult.

Its been on all month on cable and its a mainstay in my DVD collection! Its a great movie! (Last Action Hero) I dont get why it gets such a bad rap! Its one of those movies that everyone hates but you like.

They do need more muscular people playing these roles! It’s more believable, even if they have to scale them down since they aren’t able to recreate true comic book stats for each person.
The guy was a bad sportsman who used to foul people a lot. He’s a bad actor. He’s not an impressive physical specimen. For some reason, frowning a lot gives you a “hard-man” reputation and a film career.
I just hope he isn’t getting paid any money for that…

Kim baby, this is a thread about a comic book that’s turned into a movie. Thus that is what is being discussed. Stay off it if you think it’s getting “too serious”.
Movies depend on special effects like CGI, latex, etc…
Why would someone cast a guy that is big and can’t act when they could cast someone that can act and just “give them muscles” by using special effects.
If Spawn were played by a good actor instead of Michal Jai White, the movie would probably have made more money.
Movies are made to make money, so roles should be cast based on what is likely to make more money.
The average moviegoer couldn’t care less if an actor really has muscles or not. They just want to see a good movie.
Arnold Schwarzenegger can’t act.
Arnold is the only bodybuilder that has transitioned successfully into action movies.
What about the others? The barbarian brothers? Lou Ferrigno? His best role was one in which he didn’t speak.
I think the main reason Arnold is popular is his personality. Sometimes personality can make up for lack of acting ability.
Vinnie Jones isn’t a big guy by any means but he does have personality, a mean streak that may work with the role and then again it may not.

One more bump to Arnold in Conan the Barbarian. Another great movie - it should have won an Oscar, and a Nobel Peace prize!
Professor X needs to work on his psycic ability. Maybe he can do that while he watches those good old Oscar winning films like Brokeback Mountain.
As for me, I’ll stick with the Man flicks!
Arnold was great in Conan, but he had like four lines in the whole movie.

That’s what made it so cool. He didn’t have to say a thing. Just swing his sword around and kill people! What more could we ask for!

It would seriously be probably the funniest thing in the world if this were actually true, even though I know it isn’t, just imagining the self proclaimed god sitting there typing on T-Nation with that avatar makes me happy.
They really should have gotten some of these pro-wrestlers to play Juggs. Kevin Nash could have bulked up and filled the role great. So could the Warlord (my pick for the best fit), Kane, Sid, and another guy who probably not too many fans remember but was legit huge and with a little doping and proper training would be a fantastic Juggs is Kurrgan of Misfit clique fame. I doubt Juggs is going to talk much in the film, and fans like myself won’t care anyway, so just put the biggest mofo in there and do it right dammit.
Here’s another idea. Why not use the CGI tech to enlarge the actor like they did in the Mortal Kombat video game with Shao Kahn and Kintaro? Then they can have all two lines he says wonderfully spoken and he looks the part.

Kane would’ve been ideal. The guy is 6’11" 400 lbs, solid ripped. Accentuate his physique with some latex and you have a believable (on screen) 6’10" 900 lb freak.
How about that Sasquatch (or whats his name) guy in The Longest Yard (2005)? Sure, hes from India, and would never get the part, but damn was he big.

Feel free to correct me. My extent of X-men knowledge is derived from a cartoon and a few comic books about 15 years ago.
Oh boy, Here I go threatening Xen Nova’s Supreme geekness! Juggernaut is a mutant. He wears a metal helmet to keep his brother (Professor X) out of his mind. The prof keeps him calm and non threatening, something he doesn’t particluarly enjoy. The fact that nothing can stop the Juggernaut makes him a mutant. That is, unless he calms down.
The Juggernaut is going to be portrayed as a mutant in the movie, but that was never his origon. His powers are mystical.
And, the helmet was only intended to protect his mind from Prof X. He didn’t wear it originally.
This whole thread has just about gotten me to bust out my old Marvel Superheroes game and do some RPG’in!
Didn`t his power come from the Crimson Bands of Gammorah (or whatever name it was)? 15+ years back for me too.

Dalip Singh. Kane may not be as big as I thought, but I’m pretty sure that Dalip is a legit 7’2" 390 or so.

Ah ha! The Hulk movie, directed by Ang Lee did not have a person play the role of the Hulk. It was generated (quite well, I may add IMO). The Hulk has the ability to grow up to 15 feet, carrying in excess of 2000 pounds - quite impossible for anyone to re-create. The Juggernaut can’t do this, as he’s physically static. A real person can act the part.
To make it more real to the comic, it should have been portrayed by someone 300+ pounds. Juggernaut really never talked much in the comics, either. He just rampages around, causing mayhem and destruction. Quite doable by anyone with nearly zero acting ability. Yeah, casting dropped the ball. How could they not find someone to not talk?
Perhaps the stigma of the “Evil Steroids?”
This was exactly what I was thinking. Just get some pro bodybuilder who’s over 6’ tall and don’t give him many lines. Those latex muscles look ridiculously fake. I can’t believe in this day and age latex muscles are still considered legit. If you are spending more than a million dollars on a movie, things like latex muscle need to go.
