You said you never researched the poses and you couldn’t name a rear lat spread. Also that’s my mistake with the deadlift. You said you didn’t know what a rack pull was in this thread. Of course according to you unless you want to compete in power lifting knowing what a rack pull is has no value.

The whole point is you keep making snide remarks about how if he was serious about making progress he would have researched all this sooner. The same could be said for your lack of knowledge about mandatory posing and certain exercises.

Agreed. It is like not knowing who Flex Wheeler is. Some of these guys you pretty much need to know in order to discuss this activity in depth at all.

Ignoring all of them is what people do when they don’t plan on making much progress.
That is why I never got into learning names. There’s the fear of learning too much about people and not how to train.
?

I can’t relate.

I know what Mike Mattarrazzo thought about training and eating.

I know how Flex Wheeler carb loaded for contests.

I know that Kevin dropped weight and avoided steroids in the off season every year.

These little facts help get a rounded view of all of this shit…and they keep you from falling for every “new” training idea that is really rehashed material from 1986.

Knowledge is power…and honestly, if you are really serious about this, you will need to know who many of these guys are.

If you aren’t that serious, than don’t worry about it.
Are you serious with this? You made a thread a couple years back where you couldn’t name the mandatory poses in a bodybuilding contest. Now your calling someone out because they aren’t familiar with certain bodybuilders of the past? People in glass houses shouldn’t cast the first stone.

http://tnation.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/blog_sports_training_performance_bodybuilding_alpha/bodybuilding_poses_1

Also you claimed you didn’t even know what a deadlift was for years until you came to this site, and now your adding them into your routine on a recommendation from CT. It’s because of posts like your last one that people can’t wait to grill you whenever you make an honest mistake. For the record i knew who both guys were long before this thread.
Yeah I’m done with my little trolling spat
Professor X wrote:

What’s more important, knowing WHO someone is or knowing the mandatory poses and how to perform them?
You can win a bodybuilding show without knowing who Kevin Levrone is, but you cannot win one without knowing the mandatory poses.

I agree knowing past successful competitors and how they train is important. every litlle bit helps, but you don’t NEED to in order to win a show.

o this again

anyways, I like the guy. the dude just wanted to be huge and never wanted to diet down or manipulate water or any of that crap. cool. (am I wrong on this, maybe someone else?)

you’re right

I like Vic Richards, both his look and his philosophy.

I also think it’s funny how such a benign thread can turn into a pissing match and even funnier that guys took the time to search for and post links to posts from years ago as part of an argument.

The downward spiral continues, I see…

second that ! IMO Kevin Levrone’s physique at the 2002 olympia is as close to perfection as it gets. no one to this day have that kind of muscle mass with that kind of waist.
