Your approach looks pretty slow and unexplosive [real word?], so I’d suggest working that, and just training to get stronger. Why not try an upper/lower program, or a full body program for awhile?

Yes I have never been explosive, spent too much time on bodybuilding/controlled style lifting. I’m working on it tho, 5 sets of sprint per week and some box squats.
I hurt my rotator cuff two month ago so my upper body workout options are very limited. Actually that’s why I wanna take this opportunity to focus my lower body and improve my vertical.
Still playing with my volume. It has been only 2 months, but I’ve already developed some knee pain and shin splints from the training. Not good…
I had no idea we had a vert thread on these boards, crazy. I’m trying to get my ability to dunk back at my ‘new’ weight(I was 180 when I played football and could dunk, but that was years ago). A few weeks ago I played a pickup basketball game for the first time in what felt like forever, and was pretty sad that I could only grab iron; I could maybe put down a tennis ball right now.
So I’ve got a speed/jump day back in my training to see if I can at least get some of that back. Pretty silly as far as pursuing my physique goals, but I’ve always been an athlete at heart and I’ve lost some of that…
It’d be pretty amazing if I got all the way back to my former jumping ability with 30 more pounds on me, but just being able to get up there and put one down at all is still impressive for us shorter guys so I’d be cool getting back that much for now.

We’re basically the same height. If my old, broke down ass can still dunk there’s hope for ya bud. Go get it.
Posted on this a few months back, finally dunked again (had a fight with chicken pox that added a month to the goal). Got my squat up from 135kg to 160 and lost a kilo or two and that did the trick. My problem isn’t strength though, it’s that I don’t jump often enough and have shitty technique when I do. I can stand under the rim and jump and grab it two handed, no running or steps up or one handed high enough to probably dunk a volleyball. The problem is when I run up to it my vertical doesn’t increase that much, really should learn how to jump.

Tall, 6’5 (195).
^^^^ Ah. Take advantage of your height, man. It’s a huge advantage in the dunk game.
