Var - Kicker Withdrawl & Interesting Bloods/Supplementation

Anyone experience psych withdrawl symptoms on a front end Var kicker? Finished up 4 weeks (that’s the longest I will do - more later) at 25 mg/day (2x12.5) on Saturday. Feeling a little anxiety and restlessness. Wondering if anyone else gets the same thing when their kicker runs out?

Did bloodwork before kicker and again about a week ago (3 weeks in) and just got it back.

@readalot is right on about oxandrolone and cholesterol. Before/after on the above kicker:

Total before 116 after 159 (I’m in 40mg Atorvastatin)
HDL before 37 after 22
LDL before 61 after 161
TRI before 88 after 141

Hemocrit before 47.6 after 50.4

Now is where it gets interesting though:
eGFR before 64 after 73 (Astralagus during kicker)
AST before 42 after 40 (NAC during kicker)
ALT before 46 after 37 (NAC during kicker)

Every other number non-eventful.

Research told me to use Astralagus for kidney protection and NAC for liver protection. I’m glad I did but still more than a little surprised at the results. I will continue to limit my orals to Var only and 4 weeks at 25 mg/day anyway for good measure. It was a solid kicker with good strength gains and really hard muscles.

Estimated gfr using creatinine or cystatin C?

Creatinine can be all over the place. My gfr is much higher with cystatin C (creatinine influenced by body mass and weight training).

Thanks for sharing!

The eGFR is based on the “CKD-EPI 2021 Equation”

The other variable relevant to the eGFR and AST/ALT values: I abstain from alcohol completely while taking orals (Anavar). Social drinker the rest of the time. It’s going to take some more testing to confirm but it also could mean that NAC and Astragalus actually have some merit.

So you didn’t run the cystatin it must have been with creatinine value. There are 2021 EPI eqns with both.

I saw very modest ALT elevations on either 15 or 50 mg/day. SHBG pounded.

I know everyone is different but generally how long before values return to normal

Are you saying your SHBG dropped on oxandrolone?

Yes. Huge drop I documented in my thread. Common to 17-AA AAS (hepatic lipase).

I just got some blood work done and my SHBG tanked. I’ve been on oxandrolone for a bit and this likely explains it as nothing else was changed from my prior blood test.

I’ve learned more about roids in the last few weeks reading your posts than I have in the last two years. Much appreciated on the time you put into all of this.

My pleasure. It is wonderful having you on here. Methodical, intelligent, and works hard to a fault. Quite a combo.

Keep up the great work! You make me want to go do legs 4x a week.
