If my kid got killed while I was standing down the hall I’d probably blow my brains out.
It really is baffling, isn’t it? My son is 7 years old. As I have said before, I’m not in law enforcement or anything adjacent, but I cannot fucking imagine not breaking whatever rules or chain of command or whatever to save my son’s life. I’d absolutely take bullets for him if I had even the slightest chance at success. I just don’t get it.
EDIT:
After this happened, my son still had 3 days of school left, I believe. We didn’t send him back to school. Absolutely no reason to risk having a copycat in our area.
Right on man. I was a union Iron Worker before i joined the PD.
Your perspective is legit. We all need to listen to each other better. Some wisdom could be found.
You look strong af man. Be fun to pick your brain sometime
Christ i cant even fathom it
I appreciate that! I’ve never been a huge human, but at my biggest/ strongest I was sitting at 215ish, and VERY low body fat. Basically my profile plus 20 lbs. Anytime you want to talk training, I’m here for it.
On the political side, I’m always trying to find the places where compromises and common ground exist. I’m Obviously ‘on the left’ , but I’m a smart person on the left, and I’m never opposed to intelligent debate and discussion. I know you have a lot of that in you, and I’d like to bring more of that out.
I think guys like you, me, bauber and others have some essential things in common. We all have high work ethics, we are invested in strength and athleticism, we love capitalism and American democracy. That’s a hell of a base to start from, and I look forward to talking to you guys more about how we can make our country better.
I have some classic liberal leanings but they’ve lost me as of the last few years… Identity politics, the constant pulling of the race card, not condemning and id go so far as to say encouraging rioting, the ham fisting of the LGBTQ into everything, CRT… They’ve lost the plot.
We should definitely start a training thread. We have a ton of collective knowledge here.
Good question asked in this article. And the topic of the emasculation/feminization of the American male can be a thread on its own.
“We saw dramatic scenes of Uvalde police mistreating and harassing desperate mothers. Some of them were gassed, tased, handcuffed and treated as criminals. It was a shameful day for America.
Anyway, as in the classic Sherlock Holmes novel, the dog that didn’t bark is the key to understand what really happened there. Evidently most Americans failed to notice the absence of key actors in this tragedy: the fathers. Where were they?”
That guy subscribes to a caricature of men in the US, both what they were and are now. Thats what happens when you take a bunch of data like #of guns owned/#of men in the us over the age of 18.
A lot of them were probably at work or otherwise out of contact- a thing that most normal men do. Or aren’t gun owners. Another thing that is pretty normal.
Like, within my immediate family there are 4 of us men. One owns a large collection of various rifles and pistols. The other 3 have none. There are 30 firearms between us, but not each of us owning 7.5.
There is also the misconception that all gun owners are just bristling with the desire to run out and use them. This couldnt be further from the truth. Most people I know are Very hesitant to use them, because that means someone is getting shot. Of the couple of people Ive known that were enthusiastic to use a gun- both are in prison. One for life, the other a life time of felonies (prohibited from owning) going in and out of prison. Neither of them would be remotely interested in getting into a shoot out over a bunch of kids.
He may want to check the victims’ surnames before attributing anything to “American” males(edit: at least, in the way I assume he means “American”).
Only at the range or shooting drills…
I think any responsible gun owner should do everything in their power to de-escalate a situation or remove themselves from a situation as long as they are not putting themselves or their loved ones in unnecessary risk or danger.
So, Gore is now comparing climate change challengers to the cowardice of the Uvalde police department…sickening
I’m assuming he has a new book to promote?
Without a doubt, I am sure he is selling some heap of dogshit.
Maybe he’ll even get a bunch of scientists together to prove how global warming causes school shootings, then get a Nobel Prize for it. Of course, royalties on behalf of the scientists will be collected by the Gore Foundation.
Shameless cunt
We’re not doing this here. You’re suggesting that having a Hispanic surname is ‘Un-American’. Right?
I don’t like to moderate posts, but you’re right on the edge with this one. This is the only warning you’ll get.
Absent or giant pussies. I don’t know how any father could sit there and just stand around knowing the police weren’t acting.
The police seem to have done a good job at restraining law abiding citizens though. The more I hear about this the more I shake my head.
Doing what?
No. I’m suggesting that talking about “American” males based on the actions of fathers with mostly-Hispanic surnames, in a town just over 50 miles from the Mexican border, is pretty silly. Do you believe the culture there is more like the cultures in Southwest Virginia, southern Ohio, or Nebraska than the culture 50 miles away?
Edit: is there a single American culture?
“Why the most heavily armed group of men in the world are currently acting like sissies?”
Why guy who write this no have proofreader?
You know, I assumed this was mostly rhetoric rather than factual (not because of you, but because that’s just how media is these days), but after watching his video, it’s completely accurate. Incredible that he can push a political narrative in such a self-aggrandizing way; Gore saying “no one stepped forward” both pushes his narrative while also saying “I’m better than you because I stepped forward”.
Some people just need to get an ass beating, and I think I’ve name-checked one in this comment.
