Using Thick Bar For Activation

Coach, from some of the your posts and the pics I’ve seen from your work on CO, you seem to be a big fan of thick bar training. What do you think about using a thick bar for activation and switching to an Olympic bar for work sets? I just recently read an article by Charles Poliquin about thick bar training. He mentions the PTP mechanics of having to grip a larger bar activating motor units.

Since so much has been posted about various methods to activate the nervous system prior to main work sets(ramping, blast sets, explosive exercises), would it be safe to say this is another good tool to activate the nervous system? For example, using a thick bar for activation prior to using a standard Olympic bar for my work sets would activate the motor units involved in that movement. Any input is always appreciated. Thanks
