I’ll be there. Likely working in one form or another Friday. Watching Saturday. Handling Tunamonkey Sunday.
Also my company is providing some sponsorship and the DL jack for the platform.
Anybody got any notable lifts from today? Wasn’t able to watch it at all. Looking forward to the 181/198 classes tomorrow.
no…need to get stronger first. Plus I am a bench only guy now…stupid leg
Wish I could have gone. I didnt do a raw meet this past year so I didnt qqualify. It’s a little closer to home next year.
All the Beatles they keep playing in the background seems like it would mess my head up.
Friend of mine went 1470 as a Master’s 220, weighed in at 203.
The Beatles sucked.
Jennifer Thompson got a 500 Wilks at 132 with a 308/282/385 day. Most amazing lifting I’ve ever heard of, raw or equipped, drug free or untested. Amazing.
My coach, Ron Garofalo, won the Men’s Open 181 at age 49 with a 3.49x bodyweight deadlift.
That’s some sick lifting, and I loved the stache. He was fun to watch.

How tall is he? He sure looks thick for 181. F me, that’s a sick pull.

A littler taller than me, 5’6" or 7. He has the back mass of a 220er.
TunaMonkey (Thad) won the 275’s as a light 275’er and posted the 2nd highest total of the meet.
In case noone has noticed the guy is an incredibly well rounded lifter. Not to mention he went into the meet with some concerns about his back.
My man Tony Reid has a couple nagging injuries he is working through but I know he thinks highly of Ron and it was great to see Ron lift well and get it done. He’s a great lifter.
For you younger lifers, check out Jordan Krogman. He is a Jackal’s lifter, Jon’s younger brother, and is in addition to being a real nice kid, very strong with tons of potential.
apwsearch, did you get a chance to see Blaine Sumner lift? I saw him at an earlier meet and was just stunned.
I was not at this event. I had a vacation scheduled that weekend. The nice thing about RAW meets is the lifters don’t need much help…
I have not seen Sumner lift. I heard about him as a teen/junior but was never around for the sessions he lifted in.
He is a remarkable talent. Hopefully he will stick around for a while, we have a tough time with Junior lifters sticking around because they are in such a dynamic time of their own lives.

Thanks for the compliments! I will be posting a meet report very shortly, I just got back in town a few hours ago.

Here is a link to the video of his 805 raw squat:
And I can’t believe you thought that was an ammonia cap stuck up my nose.

Maybe one day I’ll lift heavy enough to spring a leak in my head… Until then, I’m going to be confused every time you hop on the platform with random shit in your nose.
Hell, ya made the lift, right?

Damn right I made the lift. Maybe if I had stuck a cap up my nose I would’ve made my last 2 benches also. I popped an ammonia cap on the 2nd BP with the nose plug still in and missed close, then pulled the plug on the 3rd so I could get 2 nostrils of ammonia and still missed. I’m sure it would have gone if I had stuck the cap up there and left it and if you were the only judge to red light me I would have got my record!
