Can we stop pretending the US women’s team brings in some kind of insane revenue. They had a slight bump compared to the men in a span of a few years when they won the World Cup and the men failed to even go to a World Cup.

What about when the men actually do make it to the World Cup (with their shitty ass team) and bring in a lot more than the Women did? Further, the women already get a better bigger portion of the payout in the World Cup than the men. They also have guaranteed contracts, things the men don’t have. I’m liberal enough to be fine with the NFL players taking a knee (and fine with the team managers firing them or not, whatever), but in my opinion taking this onto an international field of play is a disgrace.

I personally don’t have a problem with someone taking advantage of a public forum to bring attention to a cause they feel strongly about. At the same time, I don’t have a problem with me or anyone else looking at their cause and criticizing them for being silly or disingenuous.
I don’t watch MLS because it’s of lower quality than many professional leagues in Europe. The players just aren’t good enough to play at a higher level. It also bothers me that some of them make millions. They don’t deserve it. Just because they are men they should be allowed to play professionally and make lots of money?

Exactly. If the MLS warrants the paycheck there’s no issue. I also have absolutely no issue with the women making what they make currently, my issue is with the fact that they think they deserve MORE because they are women. They think they’re being screwed over because they are women, when they are not. There is nothing that shows this. They are simply taking advantage of a current hot button political topic for their personal gain with no justification for it other than GREED.

They are trying to win this in the court of public opinion in order to get the federation to buckle to their demands. I find that absolutely abhorrent, ESPECIALLY considering how privileged they actually are to be playing a sport and having the support they do when the rest of the world barely gives a shit about it.
