But I’ve done well enough for myself to pay my own school bill here at USC.

You are correct, this could be the case. However, PAY implies the payment transfer of wealth (which is definitionally a payment), in the case of a scholarship there is no transfer of wealth. Financial aid, on the other hand, while involving a transfer of wealth (from taxpayers to the aid recipient) is not based upon merit, which would lead one to question why he would have said “I have done well enough for myself” if this is indeed the case as such a statement does imply that the outcome is based upon a meritous action (or the accumulation thereof) on his behalf.

Holy hair-splitting Batman! If his scholarship is through a third party, then a transfer of wealth does take place. Does that count? Or do the funds have to come directly from a bank account in the kid’s name?

I don’t get all the hoopla over a seemingly innocuous thread. Too many internet crusaders around here I guess.

And not only that, if knowledge is wealth, then if he learns anything at all, a transfer of wealth takes place as well. You see, the definition of wealth is sometimes subjective. I guess it all depends on the definition of ‘is’.

Seriously? You pay a $34,000 yearly tuition bill on your own? I find this very difficult to believe given your assertion that you are self made.

Is USC that expensive?

I thought state schools were relatively cheap, assuming it is a state school.

Price of tuition 2006-2007:
http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/fa/costs/

It could have been more like $32,000 or $33,000 last year, but that is still about 65% of the median US household income.[/quote]

Not even addressing this any further but I found this part funny…

Fuck those numbers…take a campus tour they’ll tell you its 43,000 a year.

By the time you’re done paying shit I promise you it’s 45,000 and change.

USC is ridiculously fucking expensive.

my girl has a gates millenium scholarship thats the shit to get right there if you want your school paid for.

students loans are a must otherwise you’ll come out of pocket at the very least 2 grand. You get nickel and dimed to death… college is a necessary evil.

I want to say that I’ve kept up on these threads although I haven’t responded, but Xen’z been around here for quite a while, and he doesn’t just make shit up. When he posts an idea on training (call it mental masturbation ah!) he’s always had a source or two that give it merit.

My brother walked on for the CU practice squad when they were pretty good. He had only been a honorable mention all conference O-lineman-at
6-4 and 255 in highschool, with injuries, with a 485 deadlift 375 squat and like a 225 bench. By the time he tried out he was 285 with about 25 pounds more upper body mass and a 335 or 345 bench, and he was pretty agile and most of all he was smart-he could pick up plays quickly, and he was tough-he would run windsprints all day. He made the practice squad and then failed a physical (apparently he had no meniscus left in one knee, a broken foot, and his complete patellar and achilles tendon tears from highschool didn’t help that much either.

Xen is smart and fast, and given that, he can simulate the play of potential opposing players-that’s what they want.

But you know what, I think he is going to figure it all out and actually play game time before he graduates…or get seriously injured.

Want to take him to dinner before you blow him next time?

Sorry about the cock block sailor.

I forgive you.

I like Xens posts and I think no matter how far fetched it seems…he should be given the opportunity to prove himself with pics or similar.
