Until the Wheels Fall Off

So far it’s okay. I’m keeping daily volume down to account for daily squatting. We’ll see what effect a week of this has. Ah is espeermentin’.

“So - how was your day, honey?”

lol - we all have those days. part of the trade.

Clean and Jerk
155x1,1
175x1,1
195x1
205x1
215x1
200x1,1

Squats
225x2
255x2
285x1
300x1,1

Polish Press
115x4 (no push)
115x6 (w/push)

Gibbon Pullups
BW 8x2 sets

Didn’t like the 1st 300 squat - only went parallel - so I did another one deeper. Not too hard, surprisingly, it being the 5th day in a row squatting.

Just about doubled the reps on the pullups. Taking my grip wider - I need some lats.

Snatches
75 3x2
95 2x3
115 2x2
135 1x2
145 1x5 sets

Good enough for today. The last two snatches were so pretty I just about wept. Good place to leave it.

So pretty…<sob!>

Seriously, it felt the best out of all the snatches for the day and was almost no effort, things clicked so well. I’m sure there are still technical issues, but it was the best one I’ve done in a while.

nice!!!

i so miss snatches. sobs. soon…

Daily squatting? You so crazy.

As Pendlay would say, “That’s it.”, “That’s the Shit.”.

It’s due to Pendlay’s, Broz’s and Koing’s (of the Olympic Lifting forum) influence that I’m doing this. I don’t know whether it is feasible for a 50 year old, working male with a family to be doing this, but I’m gonna take a swing at it and see what happens. I was planning for only 5 days of lifting, but I felt good enough yesterday that I did snatches. Normally I’ll be taking Sat and Sun off.

No training today, because I do have a family, even though I wanted to do CJs today.

hmm. i’ll be interested to see how the daily squatting works out for you. i’m going to have another crack at the RSR, i think. after that… looks like it might be daily squatting for me, too.

Awsome work, man.

Damn nice snatch Tony. You really generated a lot of bar speed on the pulls. Do you tape all of your lifts?

Yup. Helps me see where I make mistakes and, sometimes, it even helps me to correct them.

Well, I’m PR’ing for bodyweight (still 175) but I felt like shite today. Body just would not dip on the heaviest jerks, which basically turned them into push-presses. Felt like I was lifting in a fog - might’ve been the gym I was in; didn’t train at home today. More likely I’m entering the adjustment period for adapting to daily lifting. No bouncy weights and no dropping.

Thats still a lot of work. I think a lot of people are in sort of a fog this winter even though its been really mild.

Good job with no bouncy weights or dropping. Also congrats on the PR. I’m sure you will get used to the gym in short order.

It was a lot of work. Maybe too much and it may affect my lifting tonight. I always seem to overdo when I go to the community gym.

Snatches
75,95x3
105,115,125x2
135,140,145,150,157x1
145x1+0+0
145x1

Push Press from Rack
145x3
165x3
185x3
205x1
195x2

Squats
205x3
235x2
265x2 (lost balance on second)
295x1
305x1 (f##king hurt)
285x2

All done.

Snatches are getting better. Feet are coming off the floor after the second pull, but I’m still not leaning back enough on the second pull. Puts the bar out in front - I actually jumped forward a few inches on the heavier ones.

Squats were a bit frustrating, because I feel much stronger than I can display. I had to slow down halfway up on the 305 due to shooting pains on the outside of the knee joints and then stand it the rest of the way up. It was no problem to do so, but it was a bit discouraging. 285 was a solid double - plenty of torque to spare.

You had a nice training session, Tony. Sounds like you are generating plenty of bar speed. I’m finding it extra hard to do with my power cleans. Its like I’ve lost all the explosiveness in my pull.

Snatch 157
Watch the second pull and where my feet end up. These are things I need to fix, but definitely an improvement.
