I am lifting at a meet(powerlifting) on the 18th, the only problem is that the meet was originally scheduled for this weekend. And i didn’t find out soon enough to adjust my training for this week (as not to peak too early), but I can work with next week. So how should I train for the next 10 days should I just lower the weights that I am lifting or keep going with my training?
Thanks

I’m no expert in powerlifting, but I believe the general rule of thumb is to keep intensity high, but cut back on volume. And have a couple days rest before the meet.
That is what we did when we had Olympic lifting meets on Saturdays. We would train Mon, Tues, Thurs with high intensity and low volume to prepare for the meet.
I have a meet on the 18th also. I was told that you mostly have to experiment with what works for you. I cam finishing my training cycle this coming week, and on teh week of, I think I will do one full body workout just to keep the “feel” for heavy weight on my back. But I’ll do very limited reps and sets. Then take probably 5 days off completely.
Won’t know if it works out till after though…
