Empty oly bar suffice? No axels in my hood
Empty olympic bar is going to be much harder. It’ll be heavier, and the smaller diameter could beat up the connective tissue. Can you get a 2" diameter pipe? That’s all an axle is. Any plumbing supply location should be able to furnish you one.
I’ve done it with both (and done it with axle weighted to 21kg), it’s a killer with both, forearms get more out of the axle, bi probably depends on which you get a better MMC with. Also Next time you do emom/high set squats do sets of 15/10 with an axle as your rest - because of the position of your hands on the squat your biceps never let the blood out, constant occlusion (which I hear is good for hypertrophy) - it’s agonising… In the right sort of way

It depends on the company. My Ironmind one is 33lbs (15kg). Derek used a 45lb axle. 25lbs tend to be pipe axles.
