Undisputed Truth - Mike Tyson

Just picked up a copy yesterday, haven’t put it down yet.

Great read, highly recommend getting a copy of it.

Anyone who is interested in the mental and psychological side of fighting will get a real kick out of this, and its pure in its honesty. Typical Tyson fashion hes coming at you with everything, warts and all.

I have gained a whole new level of appreciation for Cus D’amato, but at the same time the book makes you question him without Tyson even verbalizing it - he was undoubtedly a loving father to Tyson but its also clear he was psychologically manipulative of the young man. Stoking his burgeoning ego on one hand and then breaking him with the other to keep him invested in D’amato mentally.

Excellent book. Excellent boxer. There will never be another Iron Mike in my opinion.

One of the reasons i got the book was I hoping for more insight on how the relationship between Tyson and Rooney dissolved, but did you notice it almost comes across like Rooney wasn’t really an important figure in Tyson’s life?

Also reading about kicking Don King in the head never gets old.

Yes, I agree that there is very little mention of Tyson’s relationship with Rooney in general. Other than Cus, he doesn’t really go into much detail of his relationships with any of his boxing trainers. I was kind of disappointed, actually, with the small amount of time he devoted to his boxing training and fights in the book. I think he was possibly trying to appeal to a larger audience of non-boxing fans by not going into a lot of detail about this. However, he spends pages and pages describing his sexual encounters and drug use instead. Nevertheless, it provides a great insight into his world and, overall, I’m left feeling sorry for him more than anything.
