When CT first started giving details of the Layer System I immediately started trying it and got great results, going from 265 from pins to 295 in about 6 weeks. When February rolled around I decided to diet and dropped from 205-185 only lifting 3 times per week. March 18th I decided to start the Layer system again and my first work out I benched 265 from pins very depressing.
Well I just finished one month on the Layer system and my bench is back to 295 from pins and I am still 185. The next 4 weeks I’ll do the strength cycle CT outlined then progress from there.
Also CT the last two workouts I set PR’s for my new body weight but my clusters sucked only getting 3,2,1 and 2,2,2. I didn’t feel out of position just felt like I had nothing in the tank but my HDL I did great on. In the future should I drop the weight to make sure I get at least 3 reps?
If you cannot get 3 solid reps on clusters drop the weight. If you can do 6, increase the weight.
These are some impressive results and basically tells me that you have at least the same muscle mass at 185 as you did at 205, probably more because les weight, even if it’s fat gives you worse leverage.
Thanks I’ll keep at it with the strength phase for the next 4 weeks and then hypertrophy phase using the extend sets for the HDL instead of the descending 54321.
CT You wrote a few weeks ago a good template to follow for continued progress would be accumulation, intensification, and transformation with a strength cycle in between each phase. Do you think it would be a good idea to do all lifts without pins during the strength phases then back to pins for the hypertrophy phases?

why not do one day of pressing layer on pins and one day of pressing layer regular?

That is not a bad strategy, this is what I would recommend for example for powerlifters who want to use the layer system.
