"Unachievable" Male Body Image?

Its funny: I tend to think its my traps and back that convey size when I am in street clothes, and that my arms are undersized, just because so many dudes emphasize the latter and not thr former.

I have never been that skinny after maybe the age of 4.

CornFed 4 Life, lol

just look at the pics of any of the years of the T-ransformation challenge. Members of this site that spent loads of time training and feel ok enough to actually put up a pic, e.g. likely the better looking part of the members. Some really look amazing, most only ok. This should put into perspective whats doable for most people over a year or two.

Fair point. I guess most on that thread would be above average.

Midwest does it best, baby.

Definitely.

I saw in the paper a pic of the local HS Varsity football team from my town in Florida. All the players were tiny. My HS’ freshman team would crush them…we are just grown different in the Midwest.

I’ve seen the same thing! When I came to college, and there were football players and wrestlers from all over the country, half of them were the same size as dudes I went to high school with. One kid from town was benching three plates before we got out of middle school.

Three plates?..what was the mass of each plate?

I’d believe it. I knew a couple HS freshman who could bench 3 plates. I hit a 3 plate bench for the first time at 16.

I suppose not every strong kid in the world attends powerlifting meets.

Still one of my all time faves.

Amen, just providing context. That is an amazing lift for a 12-13 year old.

Indeed! I’ve never been a strong ‘bencher’. I don’t even bench at all anymore in the traditional sense, I just perform dumbbell presses. Either way, I just want to ‘LOOK SWOLE’ and could honestly care less about my PRs anymore.

I think it’s because of your camera placement and its angles. It just goes to show how important angles are for good shots!

In fact, there’s a fair chance, if they’re a strong kid, they’re playing a REAL sport and, if not, they’re powerlifting.

He was probably 14. It was at the end of 8th grade. And he’s a big dude now. Football player. Probably weighs 275+ lbs, and I’ve heard of him doing (easy) reps with 405lbs.

This is exactly my way of thinking.
1)We always tend to keep the best pictures. We all. I sometimes make pictures of myself that make me think that i could compete with instagram guys. And then i look in the mirror in a worse light and wonder how my GF even wants to fck me.
2)There is a huge difference in surroundings also. People who look the best in pics, look the best while no one is around. All the best bodies i have actually met, are short, which makes them look compressed and silly. Im not picking on short guys - i know we cant change our height, but what im saying is - i am twice the size of the “best physiques” yet i sometimes feel like shit and wonder why do i even bother.

My typical example is this…

The guy looks like he is the size of a tower… monster… machine… destroyer of the worlds… right?

But then… you see him next to 2 babes…

And whoa… what? Whos the silly bald kid?

When i started training i really hated myself. Everyone looked muscular and i gained from 170 to 190… from that to 210… then 220… always looked tall and skinny. Now im 250. Still dont feel like a bodybuilder.
Lucky i dont look at shit on FB and IG anymore. I only look at people on street. Being 6’2 and 250lbs, it is rare to see anyone my size. Even at the gym - there are some monsters but i believe i am almost in their group anyways.

When it comes to movies and pictures its always shit. Unless you have seen those people in group photos with other people, its worthless.
I believe that Cavil had that 5 second bath scene on Witcher and there was a video of how he was depleting himself for that moment, and his diet and water cut and all that shit… basically he went through a bodybuilding prep to do 5 seconds of “maybe i can see some abs there”.
We see the end result and actors and models dont look like themselves also.

Nowdays i just go by what i have seen in life. And its actually the only thing that matters unless you are living that IG life. Regular people dont need to compete with pictures.

Grizzly Kyriakos! I remember when those two videos came out. My brother and I were cracking up from them. Have you seen his odd-lift videos?

As an fyi - I would say this IS unachievable by most people. Even with a healthy dose of vitamin T. Here Hemsworth looks massive.
