@unicornsandrainbows inspired me to ask my husband to take a pic. Unimpressive, but I’m still pretty pleased. I’ve never taken a flexed back pic before, nor asked for help getting progress pics. I’m glad I did today and look forward to seeing June’s photo.
Absolutely untrue.
This is impressive as well!
Everyone is looking fantastic! Love seeing this progress and it seems like you all are really loving the habits and behaviors - I believe those are “life PRs” as @T3hPwnisher puts it. Great stuff all around and this is why we do this!
Looking good! I told you, you were winning!
Yup! Also a big fan of the phrase “non-scale victories”. We get so wrapped up in the numbers we forget those intangibles. Everyone here is kiling it!
For me, juggeryoke is killing my traps! After the highpulls, it’s been a fight of not having to reach over my head or using them at all!
Y’all are doing great! Keep up the momentum and I’m here if anyone needs or wants any help with finetuning the food stuff. Based on these updates and photos, I’m clearly not needed though! You guys are killing it!
@QuadQueen Feeling not-needed? Here’s something for you!
I’ve had diarrhea for my entire adult life. Maybe most of my adolescence too, IDK.
In the past few years I’ve cleaned up my eating substantially, as anyone following my log knows. My staples are rice, ground beef, ground turkey, and eggs.
When I was pretty much keto/carnivorous, I think the diarrhea went away or at least mostly slowed down.
It became obvious very quickly that bread, ie gluten, is almost certainly a problem for me. I haven’t had it in a long time now, but last time I did I had stomach cramps and diarrhea the whole next day.
Where I live now, and in my situation, a keto/carni diet isn’t financially viable. So at first I turned to oatmeal.
Crazy thing: Oatmeal gives me insane farts. Like, my body becomes a bag of gas. Fart all day, fart all night, fart the next morning, from a big bowl of oatmeal.
So now I eat white rice. It doesn’t cause those things.
I still have diarrhea sometimes, and I’m guessing it’s because I use heavy whip in my coffee. But I refuse to give that up, at least for now. It’s one of the few pleasures in life.
Anyway, what makes someone respond poorly to both wheat and oatmeal? Anything else I should be watching/adding? I want to start eating kimchi because I’ve heard it will help, but I’m not a foodie. open to suggestions about how to incorporate it etc. I don’t even know where to buy it.
You look amazing! I can only hope to look as amazing as you when I am 60. Setting the bar for sure.
Wtf? @EmilyQ is 60???
I thought she was 50 at most
59, turning 60 this year.
Incredible!
You guys are my favorite meatheads. ![]()
I know I wasn’t the one tagged for this, but oatmeal absolutely tears my guts up as well.
If you want a 60 second soundbite on oatmeal, there’s this
How are you with potatoes? I find that those tend to be a pretty neutral carb for me.
Lol, who keeps a spear in their kitchen.
Describing Paul as “eccentric” would be very kind, haha.
Thanks. I’ll watch that in a bit. I don’t really like potatoes - I do like sweet potatoes, and they’re a semi-staple at home. But “like” is meaningless so I’m open to adding in potatoes - they’re cheap as hell and would offer something different than rice at times.
I definitely prefer sweet potatoes to white potatoes: totally get that. I find honey settles well for me too, as far as simple carbs go. I also like sourdough bread, but the stuff from the grocery store can quite often be simple whit bread with a sourdough flavoring added.
Outstanding advice, as always.
I’ve had to experiment a little. I read all the time that sweet potatoes and white rice digests better for most people, but I seem to do better with white potatoes and brown rice (I like grits too, but @QuadQueen is likely to scold me).
What’s nice about being comfortable eating the same things frequently is you can quickly pick out what’s not sitting right.
Yup! Or there is also the “elimination diet” approach. Reset to zero and then re-introduce and evaluate. When I first did Velocity Diet, it was eye opening how much “extra” stuff I was including in my day and how much it was disrupting my nutrition. Each HSM was an opportunity to see what worked and what didn’t.
