Vegetables are carbs.
That’s both correct and ignoring the point, which I know you know
One of my favorite Wendler quotes
“ I have yet to see some 600-pound man getting pulled out of his house by a forklift surrounded by apple cores and banana peels.”
Freaking eww. I felt all of that.
Sure, extremely low-density carbs…
The macro count on Broccoli:
I don’t advise you continuing your line of argument.
“Where you are now you can’t even imagine what the bottom will be like”
Which is also what people say about my squat depth, but ya know, whatevs…
@atlas13 Wendler does such a great job of keeping perspective. I’ve seen so many people rag on his approach to nutrition because of it’s lacking nuance, but sometimes those cuts with the cleaver are exactly what we need.
I will, I’ve had 3 people in the past question eating vegetables because of the carbs are bad mentality. When talking to someone that has no idea about diet, they may need to hear an explanation of what simple vs complex carbs are.
Yes, I know and I know what he meant.

…............
Which is really a statement in itself. Most of us never get anywhere because we want there to be some super secret Soviet answer rather than just getting in the gym/ kitchen every single day
Guess I should chime in with an update… I’m at that crossroads between pushing the weight gain or scaling it back. I’ve purposely avoided stepping on the scale because it gets in my head, much in the same way as counting my macros. I’ve a (good) rough idea of what I am eating. My lifting belt feels like it did two months ago, but t-shirts are definitely more filled out, so that’s a good enough sign for me.
Wrapping up second cycle of 5/3/1 this week, following the 28 week program from Beyond. I’m struggling to fit 4 days lifting in to 7 days, next cycle will switch to 3 days all body. Next six weeks calls for rep pr’s on an up/down ladder, but I’m almost tempted to jump in to BBB Beefcake instead and really push the food intake. The supplemental work is laid out for me, and I can follow an 8/9 day “week” if I need to.
But my friend Sandra lost 14lbs only eating between the hours of 10am-4pm whilst drinking lemon & tumeric water instead of coffee and sleeping on the other side of the bed. Now me and the rest of the book/cake club are gonna try the same thing.
Update: Still cruising.
I will be drafting towards the back if this peloton of contestants until around May 1, and then I’ll come out of nowhere with a sprint to the finish line. We will see if it pays off.
Great to see the activity and support in this thread, no matter how many random twists and turns it takes.
I don’t remember my starting stats off the top of my head…decently lean and muscled. Shooting for amazingly lean and jacked by Memorial Day.
Keep crushing it folks, see you at the finish line. Don’t say I didn’t warn you when I slingshot by in the last week ![]()
I’ve hit my target weight of 147lbs which is 20lbs down since the beginning of the challenge.
Aggressive dieting has been the way forward so far. No drop in strength or performance during that time.
One thing that I’ve realised during this time is that mindset is key. Instead of thinking I’m hungry, I think to myself ‘I’m owning this shit. I’m burning fat’
Diligently counting calories and tapering accordingly. Have increased veg intake and water consumption drastically.
Have also started throwing a massive cheat meal in to fortify adherence and ‘surprise’ my body out of its perpetual calorie deficit.
Dude you look good in every pic you’ve posted on these forums.
Thanks, man. I definitely appreciate the compliment.
Just out of curiosity…
What’s your normal calorie count look like?
He burns 100 chongbillion calories for every burpee completed
BS! Now way!!! Some people have amazing discipline and drive. Great job ![]()
