I think I am correct in assuming that most of you are lazy students who watch tv most of the day! :slight_smile:
Have any of you ever seen the tv show survivor? and if so do you remember a guy called either Simon or Spencer Dunkley?.
I ask because I had a letter from him asking to train for free at Westside because he is due to compete in the new series next year.
I was very polite and refused his request,no freebies at Westside.
But from the way his letter was written,he offered to be at the open day(news to me not having one!)and use his ā€œcelebrityā€ status to promote the gym.
Apparently he stood for 24 hours in the China sea or thats what the letter said.
So anyone remember this guy?

I’ve only ever played rugby at school, more of a football player myself. Although that was a long time ago.

Now I do bodybuilding, but power lifting does interest me. I don’t think I’ll do a bodybuilding show as I’m crap at dieting.

Looks like everyone in the UK is either into Rugby or power lifting.

Beni - I would like to focus on form of the big three lifts as I’ve never been shown by a proper coach. Perhaps if my form was adjusted I might be able to lift more…

don’t worry we’re not all huge gorrilas that play rugby with no necks!!

In fact I’m ony 210 but don’t look very big in real life but that’s another story.

I’ve played most sports in life but just enjoy htting people up so artial arts and rugby provide(d) all the fun i need.

As for training for free, I’m not comng anymore if I can’t have free training for the rest of my life and free suplements of you Beni and if i can’t bench 8 plates by the end of the session then westside methods suck!!(ps i’m kidding, who the hell is this bloke on survivor anyway and if he’s so od damn tough why doesn;t he pay to train as the last time i looked those sort of shows give prize money or something similar, sort of like how i go to work to be able to afford to train and eat:)

And in response to being a lazy student, i admit i work at uni but does that make me a student? but the benifits are that when i demonstrate to the first year (18yr olds) girls they have a tendency to wear skimpy clothes and i can get paid ?10 an hour to look down their tops!, aah bliss.

As i said above for me and dannyboy, two weeks notice is enough but I still faour the 15th of August.

As for the survivor bloke i think you did the right thing, he probably is a bit of a plank for standing on one for a day or whatever. If its the 15th then im gonna have to get training, been taking an extended break since ive been home from uni. Beni, is there any chance you could show me how to be more exlposive with the aim of improving takedowns in MMA and grappling, im thinking posterior chain work would probably be best but im not really up on westside methods?

where can you get bands and chains n the uk? and how mcuch are they?

You can buy the bands and chains from me I am due a shipment very soon.
On another note I have found a Chinese Medicine shop which will sell me Ma Huang,you get a fair sized bag for only ?10 so let me know if anyone needs some.

Just to let everyone know that last night was the first rugby training session of the year (and for 1 year for me) and that I’m not as aerobically unfit as I thought I would be, doing cleans and snatches has really helped in the power department so they are definetely staying in the routine (Beni I know that westside rotates exercises every 2-3 weeks but have you ever included the oly lifts, can’t see a problem as i don;t ever plan to compete!)

Sprinting was good and felt crisp off the mark but seemed to lose pace a little quicker than i remeber so gonna work on that.

Basically a good session and enjoyed it immensely, can;t wait to play again.

Since Gareth can;t make the 15th shall we make it the 8th, fine for me n dannyboy.

Beni, i’ll give you a bell down next week to sort out the bands and advance this little soire further.

you’ll be glad to know that those of you who asked for t-shirts that i have a box sitting in my lab that contain some very sext testosterone t-shirts made from the finest materials, xl means xl by the way so we’ll all have to get bigger to fit them!

Right, two choices August the 8th or August the 15th, both saturdays and not bank holidays so can everyone who’s coming drop a line on the thread and agree on the date, I get the impression that Beni has some brilliant ideas for all of us that want to improve in sport and just in getting stronger.

ALLY, they sell them in leeds in a shop called Schu but don’t know about Scotland, maybe it would be worth investing in a really good set of Addidas lifting boots that are easy to get hold of at the moment due to fashion (and cheaper than specialist shops!)

It may have to be a morning session on the 16th from say 10-1.
Football season starts then,and I shall be off on my travels.Depends on where I go if it is local 11-2.
