UFC Picks

who you picking to win and why…

betting with a friend, we took turns picking fights for tommorow

i have:

Silva
Sherk
Kongo
Fisher

I only know two sets of fighters well enough to make a decision:

  1. Rich Franklin by TKO
  2. The Muscle Shark by TKO

Silva looked very impressive in the only fight of his I ever saw. Franklin trains like a demon. Short fight go with Silva, if conditioning comes in, it’s Rich Franklin.

Kenny Florian is very technical and can pull some very surprising wins. I do however think that Sean Sherk is going to be so much stronger that Kenny will have a problem with submissions and such.

Sean Sherk is also fighting with a bit of rage, as Kenny called of the first schedule d fight between them.

I think Franklin is an absolute warrior, unless Anderson Silva gets a very clean and quick knock out, Franklin won’t stop and will win.

I can’t see Franklin losing. Either way, that’s going to be a good fight.

Franklin and Florian are my picks to win…but I’ve been wrong a whole lot this year so, if anything, bet against whatever I’m picking and you’ll probably make a lot of money.

Silva TKO Rd 2
Sherk TKO Rd 3
Fitch Dec
Kongo TKO 2
Fisher Dec
Okami Dec
Jardine TKO Rd 1

Realizing anything could happen…
Franklin
Florian
Kongo
Fisher

Franklin rd3 sub
Florian rd2 sub
Fitch rd3 dec
Fisher rd1 strikes
Starnes rd3 dec
Kongo rd1 strikes
Keith Jardine vs. Mike Nickels FIGHT OFF
Guida rd2 strikes
Pellegrino rd1 strikes

Easy fights to pick are Kongo, Jardine (if he was still fighting, Nickels’ back is fucked and the fight is off), Guida, and Pellegrino. Fisher should win handily too, but I want the Upgrade to take it to him, same with Florian. They’re both dogs I want to pull it out. Hironaka is no push over and the UFC’s “best kept welterweight secret” may have a tough time with him.

I’m sticking with the champ in the main event based on how intelligent he is and how good of a game plan he always comes up with. Although lately my ability to pick fights has been a bit off and my sportsbook and pinncalesports accounts will reflect that :[

Franklin got destroyed.

Can’t believe Silva destroyed Rich like that. Watch, the President of Pride gonna brag how his Pride fighters are taking over UFC. Silva was a Pride fighter. Don’t really see anyone in the 185 weight class can take on Silva.
Also, I’m glad the Shark won the lightweight belt.

He got stuck in the clinch and caught a few shots…it happens, I’m sure he’ll be back.

Yeah, that was very impressive.

I have never seen clinch work like that, maybe Wanderlei vs. Quentin Jackson…

Anyways, I was coming here to post an Anderson highlight, but this thread is a good place for it. The opening 1:58 is entrance stuff:

Hope so, I picked Rich to win and enjoy watching him fight.

Looking at the 185 class, I see Silva defending his belt against Mike Swick. Then Rich will get a chance to get his belt back.

In the after fight interview, Rich thought he was in his ‘sweet spot’ in the clinch. I guess he was wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I thought Rich would eventually win, but if Silva was going to win, it would be earlier in the fight. I just didn’t think it would be that early.

I can’t believe how strong Silva’s clinch was. Franklin had no control whatsoever. That was impressive.

I watched some older Silva fights earlier tonight. Wow, Silva is such a technician. He’s constantly adjusting his angles, he’s really patient, and he’s super accurate. His hit percentage has got to be something outrageous like 90%.

Does anyone know a place that I could see the fights? I gotta see Franklin get schooled- they’re not up on megauploads yet.

Neither on YouTube.

Where’s your Xyience now, Rich?

Great clinch work. Haven’t seen a nice one like that since Silva-Jackson II which someone already mentioned. Franklin’s nose was pretty messed up, his surgery will probably be more than he made (of course health is covered by the UFC). I doubt anyone else will ever want to bang with Silva again. A good wrestler should be able to beat him on the ground, though.
