I had a Chase Sonnen deja vu watching them both.

Carwin was right when he said, “I have been working out since I was 16. A few months isn’t going to do much.”
But…but there’s these things on the side of plates called numbers…lol. Country boy strength is real.
COLORADO strength is real strength. Hell yeah.

nah. this isn’t wrestlemania.
GSP is a tactician. he is there to win. remember when Faber got knocked out being a bit too free. you have to respect your opponent, not entertain the crowd

it was a good night of fights…liked it
serious technical jitz
Should have put more money on Carwin…Atta boy GSP, time for you to go 185 against Sonnen or Silva next…Or why not let Silva have his fight with Mir now Dana? Season 12 TUF, put all ww in the house, and let them duke it out for the belt, or a shot at GSP, cause really, who’s left?
Anyone know the tune playing in the third preview show while GSP was in the restaurant to? thanks much

Most ppl are not good enough to fight like GSP
And if they were, then the fight would not be one sided like that

bingo.
Anyone else cringe every time Hardy’s elbow looked like it was going to snap? That dude is made of rubber!
Anybody will make excuses for this guy, even he’s pissed he doesn’t finish fights anymore.

x2
It was just disappointing to watch him try to no avail.
I don’t see how anyone can complain unless you’re into watching UFC for blood and highlight reel KOs. It’s not like he took Hardy down and laid and prayed. Trying to finish the fight and not being able to isn’t something I can be disappointed in.
A mediocre card. As for the big fights:
Hardy showed how tough he was. The only thing that came as a surprise.
GSP still totally, completely dominated him.
Mir looked very uninspired and without a warrior’s focus. Carwin was -again, surprise- strong with both his wrestling and his fists.
GSP will eventually move up in weight, hopefully slowly, and be a contender there.
Carwin will beat up Lesnar and be (super)heavyweight champ.
I enjoyed the fights tho I was a little upset GSP didnt finish,
Carwin was STELLAR he is a true beast.

Seriously? He hasn’t finished someone since Serra (BJ’s verbal submission by does not count) Every other champ finishes fights right down to bantamweight.
A few thoughts on UFC 111:
1-Are all of you Dos Santos fans thinking twice now before making the claim that he’d beat Carwin? As I said repeatedly before the fight, Carwin has explosive hands and those hands combined with his wrestling ability makes him virtually unstoppable. I’m looking forward to the Lesnar/Carwin match-up but I bet it doesn’t take place anytime soon.
2-As I’ve said repeatedly to one poster inparticular, I don’t care how much Mir can lift, or how much size he gains. Lack of size and strength are not why he lost to Lesnar and now Carwin. It’s primarily about skill, how you use what you have. If Mir is lucky Dana won’t match him against Cain Velasquez who will also most probably pound him into oblivion just as Lesnar and Carwin have done. One more point before I leave Mir; is it possible for Mir’s nose to be any higher up in the air as he took the long walk into the Octagon? There is an arrogance about this guy that’s bothered me from day one. I hope that he retools not only his game, but his thinking as well.
3-GSP put on a grappling show last night pure and simple and I loved every minute of the beating that he administered to a helpless Dan Hardy. But let’s give Hardy his due, he really has flexible joints doesn’t he? Beyond that he never had a chance and one more English hype job bit the dust, much to Dana White’s cloaked disappointment. Those who even attempt to disrespect GSP for not putting Hardy away either do not understand mma, or just watch for the highlight reel. GSP is supposed to say that he is disappointed and apologize to his fans, he’s supposed to want to be better, do better and end every fight in round one as he tried to do last night. But as fans we can’t possibly be disappointed in his incredible performance winning every second of their five round fight.
4-I thought the referee stopagge of the Mir/Carwin fight was late in coming. I know the more blood thirsty among you will disagree, I’m concerned because I’ve seen this happen a few other times as well. Fighters getting hit in the head while unconscious. I hope Dana White is smart enough to see where this is leading. He only has to have one death in the Octagon and many states that have legalized mma will be calling for it’s banishment, and of course other states that are on the verge of allowing mma will certainly turn the other way. I would say that Mir took at least two very serious shots to the head that needn’t have been thrown if the referee was actually doing a good job.

He’s finished 13 of his 20 wins prior to the final round. What exactly are you looking for, perfection? Funny stuff.

GSP vs Hardy: I’m not going to dignify that match with an analysis.

i’m still trying to figure out if this was some sort of staged match? Hardy went into this thinking “no way that guy can hurt me” and even in reflection thinks that he can take a few grappling lessons and then all will be fine on a rematch. nobody could be that stupid???
GSP is “an artist” and his domination was machine-like but i do wish he had offered up some violence. he just didn’t seem to require much effort as he toyed with the mouse, and thus, the easy play may have failed to evoke this?
I can see how people thought GSPvsHardy was boring. A one sided fight, and although one sided, GSP still couldn’t finish it.
I on the other hand enjoyed the total domination for 5 straight rounds. Clean takedowns from round 1-5, good submission attempts despite the rubber-like joints of Hardy. The ground and pound was severely lacking, though. I have to say that it was a bit boring. I even fell asleep for a min. But I still enjoyed the domination, which clearly shows what a strong athlete GSP is.
I also really feel that GSP is way out of Hardy’s league(which he showed last night). Hardy really don’t have anything to do in the same cage as GSP.
Carwin vs Mir- I was watching the entire fight waiting for that knockout, so it didn’t really surprise me. It really amused me to see how brutal the KO actually was, though. I was a little worried the fight would go into 2 rounds, and that’s when they came, the left hooks that put Frank Mir to sleep, following even more unnecesary punches to an already downed Mir.
Kurt Pellegrino vs Camoes-Submission of the Night
That was fairly entertaining. Clean RNC. I still feel that Palhares should, definately COULD have gotten the Submission of the Night.
And these fights were really the only ones I was impressed with.

Cool but what I’ve said is still true.
