UFC Fight Night

good card, probably the best free event ever. my thoughts.

HOLY SHIT. Riggs gets steamrolled by the Nightmare.

Koshchek is a beast, insane takedowns, and looks huge for 170.

Karos standup looked good, and he didnt gas at all. tuff break tho on losing teeth to diego last time and having his face split open tonight.

great showcase for 170 overall. discuss.

I’m happy that Dirty Sanchez won, because it brings him one step closer to getting owned by GSP.

I would love to see BJ vs Diego first though!

I wanted to see more in the Diego vs. Riggs fight. I think his punch was a bit lucky, but I guess the knee wasn’t.

Riggs seems to be on one hella losing streak. He also looked way smaller since his weight drop.

That Sanchez is one crazy fucker. I don’t mean that in a good way. But he was pretty impressive tonight.

Why do I find it so hard to root for guys with their hair dyed? I was able to take pleasure in a Sanchez vicotry for once. He fucking steamrolled him.

Karo looked good, his stand up looked a little crisper, that cut was bad but he had the best cornerman in the biz with him and it held for the third round when I though a stoppage was immminent.

I find it funny that Riggs didn’t leave his knee on the ground. UFC rules don’t allow knees to a downed opponent.

I was happy with Joslin’s efforts against Josh, hopefully Joslin will get another UFC fight.

that was a good event for regular tv. still they’ll need to put together a few more of those to make up for those shamrock ortiz fights…and those tim sylvia fights…i cannot fucking stand koscheck.

i don’t really have a reason either…he’s come along way since tuf but i just can’t stand the guy. i’ve never wanted to see anyone get fucking pummeled as much as like to see him… my dream matchup is kos and fedor.

Karo has always had good(not spectacular, good for a judo guy) standup…only Rogan’s stupid ass commentary made it seem like he didn’t. and why the hell did Fickett throw his hands up like he won that fight at the end of it? I understand having confidence, but that was ridiculous, he was tooled from start to finish.

I would have liked to see Koschek be more active when he got the takedown…where was his much improved standup tonight? JOslin’s guard is pretty good, but it seemed like Koschek wasn’t even trying to do anything.

When is Diego going to lose?

I was absolutely stunned when I saw riggs was out cold. the worst was the montage at the end during the ‘credits’ where they show riggs open his mouth with the “good night” mouthpiece in, and the next clip is him eating the knee. hes gotta be a pissed off dude right now.

meanwhile, back at the nightmare camp, diego’s power grows…

I thought it was funny that Riggs got KO’d when Rogan was bragging about how much better Riggs’ standup was than Diego’s.

I too think that Diego’s punch was lucky, but the knee was for good measure. He came close though to committing a foul.

Karo’s stand up was sweet, but that cut’s gonna be nasty looking this morning.

I was impressed with Joslin, although I was a bit miffed that he didn’t have a better sprawl. He should have known better since G n’ P is pretty much Koschek’s bread and butter.

Joslin did however expose the weakness in Koschek’s stand up. I can just imagine Koschek against GSP, BJ, or even Hughes. He’d get pwned… I mean owned!

The scary part is, Joslin’s sprawl is VERY good. Watch his fight veresus Jon Fitch (another accomplished NCAA division I wrestler) and you’ll see him repeatedly stuff everything Fitch throws at him.

Koscheck just happens to be on a different level than just about every other wrestler in MMA. Kos would have been an Olympian if he had chosen to go that route. Kos is the best wrestler in the UFC and no one else (not even Matt Hughes) is even close.

I disagree.

Rogan was right. Karo’s standup technique has always been horrible. He has always got by on good natural ability (fast hands, solid power) and pure aggression. He usually keeps his opponent off balance by flinging wild hooks and overhands until he gets the chance for a judo throw.

Last night, he looked really good. He shelved all the wild stuff was sticking his jab and the straight right all night long. That was the best I have ever seen him look from a technical perspective.

Now Koschek’s saying that he’s ready for GSP!

Oh man, it’s time to bring da riddum!

If GSP and Kos fight it will be GSP by anyway he wants. Most likely by murder!

Well, I disagree with you. By your own argument, it wasn’t his standup that improved, it was the gameplan he employed. Karo’s standup did not grow leaps and bounds like Rogan made it seem.

Seriously, call it luck, divine intervention, fate, and skill all meeting, but I never thought he would last this long against decent opposition…he does have that one judge who throws him those fucked up scores, so he has that in his hat for everytime he goes to decision.

Sanchez wouldent know what to do with GSP he would just get handled…he wold get handled by Huges to, i think that would be a good fight

he’s “disappointed”?? wtf ? seems like it would be pretty easy to get into his head.
