Gray Maynard - Can’t wait for this fight. I am Maynard fan and think he’ll win this, but you can’t help sitting on the edge of your seat anytime Diaz is working from the ground.
Efrain Escudero - He’s looked pretty good in last couple of fights. I think he’ll look even better in this one.
Aaron Simpson - Tough dude. KO likely.
Amir Sadollah - Looked really good in his last fight.
Same huge fan of the Cesar Graice fighters so I’m picking Diaz.
Evan Dunham by better standup, I think?
Lawlor by good weigh in costume.
Amir hopefully if he can stay busy and avoid Blackburns power advantage.
I hope Leben wins, word was he was having problems with alcohol his last fight and barely trained.
Both Amir and Lawler wasted opportunities to finish off their opponents when they were rocked. Amir should’ve kept it standing instead of taking Blackburn down every time he stunned him, and Lawler for some reason kept backing off Simpson when he was wobbly.

yeah, i think Amir thought he could submit Blackburn. to be fair, i always thought his BJJ was good, but i think he underestimated Blackburn’s ground game…
i don’t think Lawlor thought Simpson could recover from the first round beating he gave him…definately a testament to Simpson’s conditioning…

I think so as well, but coming into the Diaz fight, Gray had the upperhand…a convincing win over Diaz probably would have solidified his title shot. I sure hope it’s Frankie because BJ’s training for a fight with maynard would probably consist of a bong in one hand and a burrito in the other - no way he’d get motivated for a fight with a guy who has no hope of finishing him

i don’t think i wanna see either guy fight Penn…
i like Edgar, but he’s too small for the LW division. Maynar’s striking is nowhere near Penn’s, and his wrestling coudln’t negate BJ’s jujitsu.
i’d almost rather see Guida, Melvin Guillard or iether Miller or Louzon brother vs. Penn. gimme someone that want’s to win the fight, not the decision…

BJ is motivated for one reason he wants GSP again that’s why he’s fighting so frequently he wants to clean out the LW’s and then move to WW.
Which will just result in him getting manhandled again. He needs to just let it go and admit that he can’t beat every single fighter on the planet. GSP is simply too big, strong, and skilled for BJ.

The deciding factor was the size not skill, if he prepares properly meaning game plan, added good weight he can win or at least make it competitive.
GSP walks around at around 190, and is probably 180-185 by the time he steps into the cage. Penn weighed in at 168 and was quite soft. He’d have to get up to at least 175 lean to be able to match GSP from a strength perspective, and even then I doubt it.
Given that Penn is 32, I just don’t see him being able to put on (at least) 20 lbs of solid muscle, while losing fat, and improving his cardio to be able to handle the increased weight while still training seriously and continuing to defend his LW belt. Let’s be realistic.
Penn is probably the greatest LW of all time and if he stays there he’ll stay on top and cement his legacy. Why not just be happy with that?

He doesn’t have to gain 25 max 10-15 would be enough.
No, 10-15 would put him at a relatively lean (about the same level of leanness that he usually displays in his LW bouts) similar weight as he was for the second fight. That would still leave him 10-15 lbs, and actually more since GSP is a ripped 180-185, pound deficit to one of the most technically skill, highly conditioned, and strategic fighters MMA has ever seen.
