UFC 91 - Couture vs. Lesnar

Couture won’t be sad, everyone on Sherdog will still be blowing him tonight.

Sure man, I entered late in the first round but basically they were already on the ground, brock on top “controlling” from not the best position. Nothing much happened, randy had a takedown attempt that failed, they clinched up round ended. Brock looked exhausted.

enter round two, brock nails randy with one nice elbow, but doesn’t realize till its too late and bullrushes him but gets put against the fence where randy holds him and gets his composure back. Few knees, etc. They split, brock hit him with something and knocked randy down, jumped on him and pounded for like 45 seconds till the ref called it.

Hardly an exciting fight if you ask me.

edit: and CLaw, just because your wife is pregnant is no reason to stay with her if you were going to leave her anyway. I’ll never let myself have a marriage that I hate because she got pregnant.

How did Brock knock him down with that punch of all punches? Barely landed.

I think Nog is a bad matchup for Brock though. A black-belt BJJ with an unbelievable chin.

So now does the Randy vs. Fedor fight go through?

Brock came out, they didn’t do much standing up, they were up against the cage a lot, Brock slammed Randy, they were on the ground for a bit, Randy stood up, Brock looked gassed by the end of the round, the kept looking over at the clock…

Second round starts, they exchange, Brock throws an elbow rocks randy a little but is pushed towards the cage nothing came from that… a lot of time on the cage, the go to the middle of the ring, Brock lesnar throws what seem to look like an overhead hook and rocks randy, brock hammer punches randy to victory…

Thanks for the recaps guys, I was hoping the old man would have won being smaller and old and what not…o well

It’ll be interested to see Nog vs. Lesnar, which will probably happen. (Because I think everyone agrees Nog is likely to beat Mir).

I don’t know – everyone keeps saying that Nog has taken too much abuse, Fedor pounded the life out of him, etc., but he pulled it out AGAIN against Tim Sylvia. So it wouldn’t shock me if he can do it against Lesnar too. As for takedowns, Lesnar will handle that. Nog will probably be happy to be on the bottom and tried to submit him from there. He’ll probably just be happy to be on the ground any old way he can get there.

Right. And a man who leaves two wives (each time for another woman, and leaves his second while she’s pregnant; and who rips off everyone he does business with; is a good man.

I can’t believe the myth making. Couture is not a good person. But, hey, the UFC PR machine said otherwise. So he’s Captain America to you.

By the way, Lesnar drives around in a POS car and lives a very humble life. Randy is into the Vegas party scene and married an ex-stripper (that he met at the Playboy Mansion).

In terms of “normal” guys, Lesnar has more more in common with the average fan that Couture.

But that’s enough real life for now. Keep believing whatever fairy tale the myth makers tell you.
Did I say anything about how I felt about Couture? No, you twat, I didn’t

I grew up on a Minnesota farm, I still live on one, and let me tell you, 90% of the retards raised out here are still retards in their adulthood. The same goes for Lesnar.

I thought that was a good fight. The grappling was really good. Randy held his own on the ground. I think Brock will do better on the ground with a bigger guy. It seemed like he really couldn’t get a hold of Randy. It was kind of funny only seeing legs and arms flailing under Brock.

I thought the striking was entertaining. Everone was waiting to see what happened when Brock got hit. He didn’t seem to like it but faired well. I thought Brock’s clinch work was decent. Every time he kneed Randy’s leg, Randy came completely off the ground.

I don’t know why everyone is saying that Brock was gassed. Winded, yes. Gassed, I didn’t see any evidence of that. He didn’t look any worse than Randy.

I agree with Gonzaga being a good match-up. He looked like a beast tonight. Not that great of a match-up, but tossing a solid wrestler around like a rag doll is not a simple task, and Gonzaga made it look easy. Gonzaga/Carwin would be a good match-up as well.

The most impressive performance of the night had to be by Florian. He looked unbelievable. All of sudden, I am excited to see him take on BJ.

Aaron Riley was really entertaining as well. What a fucking banger that guy is.

Behind the ear is a bad spot to get hit. Makes you all kinds of dizzy, especially when a guy drops what probably equates to an 8lb bone sledgehammer on you there.

I don’t even want to call him a fighter, but he’s better than me, so I have to.
Just curious…why do you feel this way? He does talk some bullshit here and there but I figure that is just his pro-wrestling persona being egged on by Dana. I don’t know the man, but he seemed pretty cool to me on that all access show.

And I have met Randy. As likable as human beings come (but I am aware of his background, before the other guy comes on here yelling at me).

Please, please do not try to justify leaving a pregnant woman for another chick. a) there are far better things to argue about, especially on a mma forum b)if you’re really so uncertain about the relationship that you mey very well be leaving her within the next nine months, knocking her up is probably not a good idea

I was just pissed because the fight got stopped on these stupid flurry punches. I honestly dont believe they were causing much damage. watching the replays about a third didnt land, and none of them were really wound up, just rapid fire from short distance.

Brock got hit a few times solidly…he didn’t appear to enjoy getting hit but his chin isn’t lawn chair-esque.

Randy did well wrestling as well; i thought he was going to surprise us again but that glancing punch from Brock hit him right beind the ear, he never recovered. Good finish from Brock.

I can learn to like Brock but the WWE fanboys those fuckers are going to annoy me.

First round was pretty even:
Lesnar doing his thing, that is going forward and using his weight, scoring two takedowns (I think) and a bit o’ lay n pray
Randy did what we expected from him, forcing the clinch, getting a reversal, crisper punching and generally looking relaxed.
10:10 no doubt

Second round:
Randy was totally off his rythm concerning his head movement, Brock began to hit him again and again, not really clean but nontheless. That’s not the first time [edit] I saw that with Randy happening (timing going off), I knew he was gonna get it from that moment on.
One punch made him slightly dizzy but he caught himself well, again masterfully using the clinch.
Then that funny right took him.

Brock really has a good boxing coach. On that old vid people post again again (the sticks…) his display of boxing against a bag is amateurish, now it seems his hands are confident and as sure as need be.

What can I say, congratulations Brock, Nog or Gonzaga will still wreck you.
Still, congrats.

One more thing:
Lesnar isn’t a phantom anymore.
His next opponent will have a good idea of what to expect now.

uhhh…watch the replay again. Randy was out…tried getting up, but fell back over. good for Brock…i get bored with Randy’s fights (not that he sux, i just get tired with how he fights).

Florian did look pretty good…his footwork was awesome, and his striking is really looking good.

i think a lot of people underestimate brock…im not saying hes the best but hes def a lot better than a lot of people think…congrats to him but he wont be holding that title for that long

First things first FUCK U CALIFORINA LAW you are the biggest dumbass in forum history. Now that I got that out of the way. FUCK YOU BROCK LESNAR this guy is a dick, openly hates gay people and just sucks as a person, the UFC does not even have the best heavyweight division. I think Brock gets tooled by a good striker such as Arlovski, Fedor, Barnett, Silvia, either Nog bro. But I am sure we will here that since Lesnar beat Randy we are going to here all kinds of shit about how good he is. I pray Affliction fails just so Brock can get tooled numerous times.

You all can hate Lesnar all you want…I happenb to have a little bit of admiration for the guy simply because he wlaked away from the WWE because he didn’t like the lifestyle/behavior of the people around him.

I don’t see Andre Arlovski hangiong w/ Brock, Fedor and Nog would probably beat him, but you never know. Oh, and Sylvia is a tomato can…

I am interested to see how far Lesnar can progress w/ some good coaching. What’s he got like 18 months of MMA training under his belt, and 5 MMA fights? If he can learn some BJJ, it would be interesting.

On a side note, what is Jeff Munson up to these days?

Thats the match up that has yet to be seen with Brock a talented striker. Give Arlovski a little more time i think hes going to suprise a lot of people

Did anyone else hear Brock thank God, and then say “God bless you”… to God?

This was after he said God gave him his mind, and his body, implying that both were supernatural.
