UFC 91 - Couture vs. Lesnar

I think if randy can survive the initial onslaught of brock, he cant start taking over in the later rounds and win this fight. There are so many variables to take into account that it is nearly impossible to predict what is going to happen come fight time.

Repeat of Barnett-Couture.

You guys forget that Couture left the HW division because he wasn’t strong enough.

In a snorefest, he beat a Tim Sylvia who needed back surgery, and Gabe Gonzaga, and suddenly everyone is, “Oh, never bet against The Natural.”

Mythmaking in action.

Fact: Couture is 16-8. He wasn’t strong enough for HW, so he dropped to LHW. He got KTFO twice as a LHW so he retired.

Lesnar is going to TKO Couture.
Anyone that thinks you can count couture out is an idiot.

I hear you, but damn dude, he’s giving up a lot of size in this matchup…Lesnar is a different athlete than Silva or Gonzaga and though I’ve got my fingers crossed, I just don’t know how Randy’s going to be able to deal with that strength advantage.

I’m giving it to Randy.

I think his submission and striking experience will outdue Lesnar’s freakish wrestling.

I kind of forgot this shit was on. I need to get my ass to a bar!

Doubt it. Highly.

Lesnar has the Midwestern/farm boy tough thing going for him. In addition to his actual training. A little bit of blood isn’t nothing he didn’t see growing up in Minnesota.

Living in Cali but having grown up elsewhere, I appreciate the toughness that working on a farm and going through long cold winters breeds.

No way he’s going to freak out over blood.
Nobody that’s ever gutted a deer is going to freak out at the site of blood. If you shoot the right, you are elbow deep in a pool of blood when you try to rip the diaphram and lungs from the inside of the ribcage. The blood sloshes around in the body cavity until you finish gutting them and flip the body over to dump the blood.

depends on if “the Natural” pays a friendly visit to the supplement guru.

Has anyone seen him recently, the last time I saw him he did not look like he was getting ready to fight heavy weight and this is someone he definitely wants some size for .

I would sy the fight will depend more on Randy than Brock.

Not trying to say he is amazing, just that if Randy comes in small and weak he is gonna get hurt.

If it is a quick fight it will be lesnar, if it goes the distance Couture.

Randy is definatly not weak. He’s never been that big but has always been strong. Like Henderson strong, not Lesnar strong.

I just can’t bring myself to betting against Lesnar in this one. I think he gets beat by Nog, but no one else the UFC has now. Maybe Carwin, but they won’t be fighting anytime soon.

Its basic science really, the more muscular one is the more they need oxygen. Sprinters are great examples of this long vs short track physiques. Plus Bob Sapp tires out, Sokoudjou tires out etc… all very muscular but they tire out fast. The only reason Brock did not look tired was because all he did was lay and pray.
this is one of dumbest things I have ever heard. Explain the science to us, please.

Judging by the size of his head and hands, I would bet his cardio system is a bit bigger than randy’s.

Good wrestlers usually have large and strong left ventricles. I would bet his can pump more than enough blood.

Do you think he has bigger or smaller lungs than randy?

What are all the lumps under Hendricks’ skin? I’ve never seen that before.

Gonzaga was looking really thick and strong, he punched like he had trucks on his hands…

If Lesnar wins tonight, then i think the only heavy that can beat him will be Gonzaga…

He is huge…Lots of power, not a lot of technique but he is way to powerful…good job by Randy though…

Good win by Brock…

well round one is over, man randy looks so small in the clinch agaisnt brock. Id say brocks conditioning is a joke, breathing heavy after some groundwork entering the 2nd with his mouth already open

Um… OK.

Lesnar is a fucking disgusting, unlikable piece of shit.

I don’t even want to call him a fighter, but he’s better than me, so I have to.

damnit…brock won…

May as well do this now: I predict that Lesnar will TKO Nog.

Nog’s best days are behind him. Too much brain damage. He won’t be able to take down Lesnar. So he’s going to get dropped and pounded out until there’s a ref stoppage.

Can someone recap the fight for me, I have no tv and didn’t watch it.

Right. And a man who leaves two wives (each time for another woman, and leaves his second while she’s pregnant; and who rips off everyone he does business with; is a good man.

I can’t believe the myth making. Couture is not a good person. But, hey, the UFC PR machine said otherwise. So he’s Captain America to you.

By the way, Lesnar drives around in a POS car and lives a very humble life. Randy is into the Vegas party scene and married an ex-stripper (that he met at the Playboy Mansion).

In terms of “normal” guys, Lesnar has more more in common with the average fan that Couture.

But that’s enough real life for now. Keep believing whatever fairy tale the myth makers tell you.
