UFC 91 - Couture vs. Lesnar

“The Next Big Thing” takes it

agree that Lesnar is an asshole

Lesnar just pisses me off the antics after beating Herring having no respect for fighters. I want to see him face some real heavyweights than hear him run his yap God imagine the kind of beating Fedor would give this guy. I reaaaly hope Randy makes Brock taste his own blood.

What are you basing this off of? Brock looked as fresh at the end of the 3rd round as he did at the beginning of the Herring fight. I saw no evidence of him gassing at all.

Don’t forget about UFC 91:All Access tonight…12am/CT…Spike TV.

Its basic science really, the more muscular one is the more they need oxygen. Sprinters are great examples of this long vs short track physiques. Plus Bob Sapp tires out, Sokoudjou tires out etc… all very muscular but they tire out fast. The only reason Brock did not look tired was because all he did was lay and pray.

wrestlers tend to defy basic sport science.

Mid 2nd round Brock was completely gassed, and the 3rd round was pretty slow. He was able to recover somewhat because Herring provided zero resistance and doesn’t have the best conditioning himself.

He also knew that he could go all out in final minutes because it was the last round and he didn’t have to leave anything in the tank. Randy’s conditioning is among the best at HW, and he knows how to use it to wear down his opponents.

Randy will do what Randy does best, and that is come with more mental toughness and a better game plan.

I see it going at least till the end of the third and probably all 5 rounds. Couture by tko 4th round is what I’m calling though. And I agree with chitown, Brock might start to gas too. MMA is different than college wrestling when youre going 25 minutes.

I saw an interview with Lesnar and he is not a very likeable guy at all. Randy is a much better personality. Its hard to cheer for a guy who is anti-social and a prick.

LMFAO. You don’t have a clue, do you? Couture has cheated on every wife he’s had. And no one who has done business with him has felt anything but burned. Randy Couture is bad person.

That doesn’t matter to me. I want to watch fights, not personalities. [/quote]

LMFAO!

I usually tune in to watch a fight also. Same reason I would hope you got KTFO if I ever saw you fight, your an anti-social ass clown.

Yes, their personality sometimes does dictate who I root for.

well, i don’t really have a true prediction. i’d like to see Lesnar win…his speed, power and size is amazing, and he’s got some wicked potential. but, Randy’s Randy. the dude knows how to prepare…

personally, i get bored watching Couture fight. it seems to me that he’s working for the decision more than the finish. but, i’m not taking away anything from his ability…he doens’t really have any true weaknesses, and he’s a testament to a freakish work ethic.

hopefully it’s a good fight, and they push the pace.

Even though i cant help but be amazed at the sheer size mass and strength of lesnar i just dont think he has what it takes to beat couture in 5 rounds, he lacks the experience to do it i predict a 3-2 round unanimous decision for couture

MAN, is this one tough to predict. I’m not putting money on it because I almost always lose when I do (plus neither of them offers great odds).

If I HAD to predict a winner I’d say Randy, via either decision (most likely) or submission.

That’s not to say that Brock couldn’t pull it off, though.

This could be a VERY exciting fight.

[But God, I’d REALLY love to see Fedor fight in a cage. I think once he got used to fighting in the cage it would just amplify is wrecking-machine-ness.]

A buddy of mine was at the weigh-in, just sent me a text a few mins ago (6.30 CST), said Randy weighed in at 220 and Lesnar came in at 265, cut from 278 yesterday.

This is going to be a great fight. I think Couture takes it by decision. Lesnar is great, and even though Randy has been out of the game for over a year, he’ll be ready for Lesnar.

i was looking at the UFC site, and realized that no matter what, this is kind of a lose-lose for Randy’s legacy. if he loses tommorrow, he loses the belt.

If he wins, he still has to fight the winner of Mir-Nog (to unify the belt, so to speak), and realistically, should defend the unified title as well, to cement his legacy. by then, he’ll be 46 or 47 years old… hopefully he’s making a very good payday on this.

btw, with Lesnar being 15 years younger, and a minimum of 45lbs heavier, this is truly gonna be an amazing fight.

Someone here mentioned a new All Access episode for UFC 91, but I can’t find anything.
Could somene clue me in, please?

I think they meant the Countdown show.

This is my un-expert opinion:

I think the only way Randy has to beat Lesnar, is to take a page out of Machida’s fighting book and be as elusive as he can, force Brock to get frustrated and start making mistakes, then capitalized on them. His dirty boxing up against the cage won’t work, simply because Lesnar would easily tackle him and once on the ground, the dude is just way too big to move around and/or sweep to improve position, unless Randy has become a master BJJ artist and we just haven’t seen it.

I’m rooting for Randy 100% though.

Speaking of master BJJ, the other fight I’m also really looking forward to, is the Quarry-Maia one.

so anyone know a website that we can stream this from live?

I dont really feel like going to the local bar…drunk rednecks…ugh.

though i suppose if i have to…
