BJJJJJJJJJJ!!!
I’m just stunned I actually got a prediction right. I said BJ would win by submission within 2 rounds, and sure enough, he did just that.
Can’t wait to see this fight. Sounds like BJ totally destroyed “Joe Daddy”
Motivated BJ is a dangerous man. He could have a long run as champ.
Cool to see Werdum pick up the win over Gonzaga. I originally said Gonzaga would win, but afer seeing the Countdown show (I didn’t see it till this afternoon right before the fights), I had a feeling that the fight would be close and that Werdum had a good chance of getting the W. Looked like he had a great camp down at Chute Box.
As a longtime BJ Penn fan, and knowing what he is capable of, it fills my heart with joy to finally see him realizing his potential. Amazing performance. Bring on Sherk!
Boy, do I really feel dumb about forgetting what Werdum is capable of. Honestly, Arlovski is the worst match up for him in the UFC, so that fight obviously was not indicative of his ability.
Wow, just watched the fights.
I’m pretty bummed about Joe’s cut, although BJ would have finished him no later than the 3rd round.
I was dissapointed with the Werdum/Gonzaga fight. They both seemed out of shape. Gonzaga started well with several of those devastating leg kicks and then nothing…
What’s so great about BJ Penn? Honestly, I don’t see what makes him so different. Never even heard of him until he was on TUF Show as a coach. Someone inform me on this so called prodigy.
BJ sure looked impressive. That fight and the Paul-squared fight were the only really exciting ones on the card IMO. I know I’ve said it before, but I really wish the UFC would use more of their roster and put together better, deeper fight cards.
Anyone want to put any predictions on Nogueira vs. Silvia? My money is on Nogueira, probably by sub in the 3rd or 4th, but maybe be decision.

Quite frankly, he has the most amazing ground control and work I have ever seen in MMA, and the fluidity with which he integrates every part of MMA is amazing. To someone who isn’t familiar with submission grappling, he might appear ordinary, because he sticks to the basics. But the way he executes the basics is so flawless and perfect that it is a wonder to behold. Just watch the way he uses his legs, it’s incredible.
Just to add what Donut62 said about penn. Bj has amazing flexibility and it allows him to do alot of things most people can’t. Also like Donut was saying watch his legs when he’s on the ground he will sometimes use them like arms to hold down opponents arms(hard to explain)to allow him to have both hands free. When he’s focused and puts his mind to something he’s a very dangerous fighter.
Bj was the first non-Brazilian to win a gold medal in the black belt division of the Mundial World Championships held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
To Donut and Viking:
I’ll take your word for it. The next time I see him fight, I’ll check for what the two of you talked talked about.
This will be the only time I post something from the Sherdog forum as evidence. This sums up BJ’s history better than I can.
if you want more info, you should go to bjpenn.com
haha, actually his site is pretty interesting, but they changed the format a few weeks back and I’ve been trying to figure it out
Gonzaga was a bit disappointing. Like the Couture fight, the fire went out of his belly as soon as it got tough.
Penn is looking real good. Skill wise he is on a different level to anyone at 155lbs. Sherk will be a very tough fight though.

Ok guys, here we go. Donut where you at big guy?
I’m looking for this to be a war. I do believe BJ is primed to give Stevenson a rare loss. It could definitely go either way as we all know. But I think BJ can get it done. I like Joe too, but I’m wanting BJ to leave a legacy, and this win will be required for that. We’ll get to Sherk when that bridge is in front of us. I like BJ’s striking over Joes, and while ground is good for both, I’ll give BJ a nod for BJJ and overall flexibility too, which I think will be key to his victory. Yeah this is gonna be a war.
As far as Gonzaga and Werdum, I'll go with the beast Gonzaga. Kendall over Rivera, Gouveia over Lambert, Marcus over Laudin, should be a hot one though there though.
Have at it guys,

Well 3 out of 5 aint too bad, lol.
Seriously, looks like the Penn fight went as I thought, nice elbow by Penn bloodied up Joe pretty good huh guys? I didn’t get to see the fights, but for what’s on the site over there at UFC. I had a feeling I might be wrong on the fight between Werdum/Gonzaga, and Grove/Rivera when making those predics. Werdum’s camp looked damn solid, and Rivera looked more muscular and fit than I remember ever seeing him look in the past glory days. I’m impressed with these guys returning after getting the shit kicked out of them sometimes. Like Rivera getting his jaw smashed, Jesus, I wouldn’t want to mix it up after something like that you know? I guess it does come back strong if healed properly though. Anyway, I’m looking past this next one and more excited to see Anderson and Hendo mix it up. That should be another good one.

Stevenson via strikes. You heard it here first.
Gonzaga is going to maul Werdum, especially if they both come in with the same attitude as their last matches.[/quote]
Whoops.
Penn sure beat the shit out of Joe. It wasn’t like Stevenson hid away either, he was going for it the entire match, I couldn’t believe how fired up he was at the start of the second round. We’ll see how lazy BJ becomes now that he has the gold around his waist.
I’m not a huge Kendall Grove fan, but consecutive losses to B-grade fighters really puts him down a peg or two, poor bastard.
Marcus Davis looked impressive again, Gonzaga’s match was disappointing, but all in all, it was another example of an unimpressive card on paper delivering in the Octagon. Great to see more fights were shown as well!
BJ Penn! That guy is a fucking pimp. If that BJ shows up to the rest of his fights, I don’t know who could possibly beat the guy.

Harsh.
Geez, I know I’ve said it before, and I’m sure they do, but I really hope these guys are required to have blood work done before their fights. If it were me I’d still be freaked out by the idea of some other person’s blood possibly mixing with mine – nasty.

Judging by the way Penn was licking the blood off his gloves after the fight, I don’t think he minded too much-that sick bastard.
I don’t know if you guys have seen this photo, and I must upgrade my TV to HD so I can see action like this. Look at the shot of blood coming out of Stevenson’s head:
Can somebody be cool and post links to the fights please? Avi or wmv formats would be great - all I’ve been able to find is asf or nsv format, both of which are putrid quality.
I know it was a minor PPV, so not too many people uploaded the fights. I think thats why I’m having a hard time finding 'em
