UFC 143 - Diaz v Condit

There is a god

I honestly don’t understand the success of the diaz brothers. Everyone they fight falls into their game plan immediately and end up gassing out hard by the 2-3 rounds. Their best techniques are cardio and body shots. Condit looks to be way more well rounded so i hope he doesn’t fall into diaz’s game.[/quote]

Nice foreshadowing bro…lol.

I have to say…LMAO at the notion of Diaz’s footwork. Move forward. That’s all there was to it. I was pretty pleased with Condit’s win, and disgusted, yet again, by Diaz’s whining.

Yeah…people forget that “small” aspect of boxing. Diaz’ biggest understanding from boxing is range and hand-fighting in space…not footwork…obviously.

It was a close fight, yet somehow two judges gave Conduit four rounds. I see where he’s coming from.

Gave Diaz 1, 2 and 5. Condit outlanded him with the kicks, and generally speaking avoided a brawl. Smart, I can see giving him round 2, but let me say this, as a fan:

-Fuck Carlos. And fuck Greg Jackson.

Today, Carlos Condit wasted 25 minutes of my life.

I got into MMA because I enjoyed the concept of two men going to battle in single combat.

I am not a fan that calls for two guys to get into a Deigo Sanchez like brawl.

I am not a fan who puts down a fighter who fights technically and avoids damage. I am still a fan of GSP, and I enjoy watching technical fights. I love Mayweather fights. I enjoyed Lyoto/Shogun I. I enjoy ground chess matches. If Fitch had more rounds like his last vs BJ, I’d like him too.

All that said, Carlos didn’t fight tonight, Carlos ran. He peppered Nick with leg kicks and got on his bicycle. Now I am not saying Diaz doesn’t deserve the decision, because he does. This is MMA. You’re supposed to be able to deal with an opponent fighting like that. But Carlos didn’t win a fight. Carlos won a race.

There were only flashes of brilliance in there, and they just made me more frustrated, like a girl cockteasing you then saying she feels tired. He would land great kick combos, and it would be back on the bicycle.

I hope for either of two things:

-A rematch. GSP will be out till November. Make it happen Zuffa.
-Condit fights GSP, and gets his ass reemed, as he deserves for this travesty of a fight.

So fuck you Carlos.

On the flipside, now that we know how GSP would’ve likely approached this fight, at least there’s less chance of us having to watch George on a bicycle too.

Also:

HOLY FUCK at DarkNinjaa.

LOL at all that bullshit you just said. Diaz didn’t just get kicked…he got punched…and kneed…beat to the angles…counter-struck. OUTSMARTED…DIAZ LOST. Not Condit’s fault Diaz was too basic to adjust. Diaz obviously isn’t the better fighter with that fact alone. He can’t adapt when he is not the bully and pulling stupid antics to get in his opponents head. You said it best…THIS IS MMA haha.

I don’t disagree with you. Diaz lost. I don’t agree with the judges, but barely. This was no robbery.

Condit hardly landed punches. He hardly landed any knees. Diaz won most of the exchanges in the pocket.

Carlos didn’t fight. If you think that’s fighting and engaging, that’s your opinion Boss, and we have nothing to talk about.

Can you be more transparent??

In what way? That’s my opinion. Unless you’re trying to say I’m gargling Diaz’s balls or something. Which I may have, but they’ve been out since the Daley fight I swear.

Of course that’s your opinion…lol…everyone has an opinion. That’s what keeps this forum going…but the whole “we have nothing to talk about”…yeah. That was transparent…obviously. Cause you sure as hell know we’re about to discuss the shit out of this fight…haha.

LMAO

How in the hell can you respect technical, strategic fights…YET act as if Condit did absolutely nothing but run??? Somewhere in all that running he managed to outstrike Diaz…and hit him with cleaner power shots…AND not get into the brawl Diaz wants. How does that happen without a teleportation device and/or the ability to stop time???

Sure why not.

Preface: I don’t train striking, so if I say anything retarded let me know.

Nick looked like shit. I don’t disagree with that. Carlos did an excellent job of circling off the cage, even though that’s where he got tagged the most. Nick never had control of the fight.

Carlos also did a good job keeping him at bay with the kicks and not letting Nick swarm on him. He knew he wasn’t going to exchange punches with the guy.

My beef with this whole performance was that Condit could’ve done more to make it a fight. He could’ve engaged more instead of sniping from a distance and backing out, which was what he did.

I thought it was a reserved performance, which oddly enough I was fine with seeing from Rashad. Made for a boring fight then, but there was dominance and a skill-advantage on display, as well as some technically brilliant ground work. I guess I didn’t see much of that in this one, hence:

Fuck you Carlos.

I feel like saying the bottom portion of this pic, rundy. What fight did you watch? Condit clearly outstruck Diaz. Ever heard of “stick and move”? Mayweather is good at it. Edgar is good at it. Condit was good at it. The ONLY movement Diaz had was walking forward. That’s IT. No awareness of cutting the cage off, no adjustments, nothing…until the final minute of the fight. Condit landed a lot of good shots, both punches and kicks. Hell, he even pulled off a beauty of a kick-punch-kick combo!

You want a brawl. Go to the nearest bar. Condit had an excellent gameplan, and worked it well. The correct man won.

Hmm…so what kind of fight was he supposed to turn it into?? A short one…for him???

Your argument ceased all relevance after this. lol. Stick and move, guy…stick and move.

It might be my untrained eye, but I didn’t see the fight like that.

I didn’t think Carlos landed cleaner shots (leg strikes excluded of course). And other than a couple (didn’t count) of knees, and the occasional counter, Diaz peppered him more.

The story of the fight, and the reason the judges gave Carlos rounds, were the kicks. Which would be fine with me, if they actually appeared to be effective. Since they weren’t I felt they served more to keep Diaz at a distance and of course, “score points”.

Condit landed a lot of clean shots, to include a front kick to the face of Diaz in Round 4. The leg kicks were pretty effective, as they did slow Diaz down a bit, and took some pepper off his punches. As Boss pointed out, though, it would have been foolish of Condit to fall into Diaz’s strength with brawling, as Diaz is very good at overwhelming folks with his punches.

OK…you were right…nothing more to discuss…hahahaha.
