Those rumors, from my understanding, are likely correct. Keep in mind this was when Vitor started fighting in the UFC, which was ages ago. He’s probably Black Belt level by now, at the very least in an MMA context, considering the people he surrounds himself with.

mmm… that’s really possible, but if he comes with a strategy of taking the fight to the ground it will be pretty interesting, since when was the last time we saw belfort bjj in action?

Plus there are some rumors down here from Brazil that Carlson jumped him from blue belt to black.[/quote]
Dude is legit and has beaten Ricco Rodriguez in ADCC, he came in third in the absolute.

Not saying he is not legit. But Vitor is know for fading away when someone puts pressure on him.

And so is Akiyama for the most part, he certainly hasn’t been able to handle the step up in competition that the UFC has provided him.

Actually, i don’t what the fuck happened to him, he was much more of an strategist before the UFC move, till the Leben fight he was doing pretty well

It’s his gas tank. He needs to put a treadmill or bike in front of his TV.

Speaking of Akiyama, his striking is pretty top shelf when he wants it to be, look at the belcher fight before he copped a thumb in the eye.

I have no idea what happened in the bisping fight, he just looked flat and not in the moment. Personally I would’ve thought he would steamroll bisping.

What happened is he, like every other Asian fighter not named Yushin Okami, refuses to adapt to the “American style” of actually cutting weight and fighting in the weight class that is most advantageous to you. He’s lucky that even in defeat he’s been quite entertaining or else he would have been out of a job a while back.

If Akiyama were to make the drop to WW he’d likely clear up some of the cardio issues that have plagued him as well present a style that would work well against the elite of that division.

Akiyama already cuts weight, i don’t know if he would be able to make to 170lbs, also since when cutting more weight helps your gas tank?

mma is an anaerobic sport, i doubt those kind of activities would help him.
