Those are very good points sentoguy. However, I don’t see any fight with Lesner going five full rounds. With his take down ability combined with his strength and weight, the other guy us going to tire. He’ll then make a mistake and the fight is over,.
Lesner has to make a mistake or walk into a punch early.[/quote]
Lesnar’s strength and weight are forces to be dealt with no doubt. But, Cain supposedly has the best cardio of anyone at AKA (which includes guys like Josh Koscheck and John Fitch) and is a complete freak when it comes to endurance. I think if anyone can set a pace and burn Lesnar out it’s Cain. If he tries to match him strength wise, then yeah I think he’ll burn himself out pretty quickly. But I think he’s smarter than that.

But Lesnar is too big and too strong. Punches don’t work in him because he is hyuuuuuuge. Armbars chokes yeay right you ever put a hold on a guy with 22 inch pythons, didn’t think so. And who needs wrestling when he can just tackle you.

This would actually be funny if someone on here said these things. But, as usual the hate just starts clouding the mind and you get a post like this. That’s too bad because sometimes you are actually very funny.

It’s funny you think I was mocking people on here think about that for a minute.

Oh, I like that, you’re using the “you wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t true,” rebuttal. Keep going with it, see what’s happening? Now you’re actually being funny, at least I’m laughing at you.

It seems like there are a lot more douchebags on fight forums as opposed to powerlifitng forums. While guys might lie about their lifts on the net, they still know they’re weak.
As for fighting, everyone thinks they’re a tough guy.
You’re welcome, but I still don’t think my post is irrelevant. When there is a discussion on the UFC here, everyone time someone’s boy loses, you get this weird trolling.
Guess seeing your guy get schooled will do that to you. Seems like there are lsess excuses in lifting. the weight was to heavy is the normal answer. I see more iffs and buts here. If my guy didn’t get caught with my punch etc.
People let their dislike of a fighter blind themselves to an opponents skills or toughness.
Not a troll at all. I was reading about and watching UFC since it began. when there are interesting fights I watch. I don’t feel like paying 45$ each month for same old same old. Lesner happens to interest me. As does George St. Pierre. Plus you add in the fact that my son recently got into through wrestling and there you go.
BTW, I’ve been posting here since 1999 under the screen name Irondoc. Years ago when they changed screen names I just went back to my real name and birth year.
Ive read some of your posts on other pars of the forums - and don’t think your a troll…
its just very coincidental that when Lesnar fights the tides swell with more trolls then usual
Maybe because he is a polarizing kind of guy.
Maybe its because what ever his legit credentials are he was a pro wrestler
more probable is that he is a huge guy and people like that.
that being said people like whom they like, personally Ive spoke about
Lesnar before and will say that he is physical freak and a tremendous athlete
despite what you might think there are some very solid regulars on this sub-forum
whom are either very knowledgeable about the fight game or there are some whom train
at least semi pro or are surrounded by legit fighters at their gyms.
I think it’s a combination of things.
Lesnar is unproven yet people like Tom act as if he’s the GOAT and unbeatable, when he has lost and been shown to be very vulnerable.
He brings over people who know nothing about mma. They start threads about how because they are strong they could beat up any fighter too.
I don’t think he’s unbeatable, because he has been beaten, albeit while he was very green. But you can’t take power and strength out of the equation. It’s like complaining about the leverages of Bridges, Coan, or Gant in powerlifting. Certain physical aspects will make you better at various activities.
IMO many people look at fighting arts and martial arts as something different than other sports. Yes all sports have technique, butt he physical abilities to make you great in them will be more in some than others. Those who train hard and have great natural ability will beat those who have lessor abilities.
We like to believe in that underdog, that Rocky, Rudy etc. Heart, drive willpower, but those who have a lot can have that also making them very tough to beat. My favorite fighter is St. Pierre, basically since he is so damn good. I don’t see the guy being beaten unless he slips up, which of course is possible.
But you can’t let your like or dislike for a guy’s personality blind you to his abilities. Lesner brings it out in many. My son wanted the fight last year against Mir. I rented it and watched him pound the daylights out of Mir. A lifting buddy a few months ago was talking to me about the fight, he was convinced Carwin would beat him. My son was. Because they liked Carwin better mainly. They both had their eyes open about Lesner’s physical abilities.
Doesn’t mean he can’t lose, but so many here don’t like him and are blind to what he can do. As of now, I don’t personally see someone who will beat him. Eventually it will happen. The sport and age take a toll on a man. You can’t keep going forever. but until that happens, it will take a freak to beat Lesner. Maybe Kesner will get some a nagging injuries that take a toll on him and wear him down.
lol, ive been one of the guys trumpeting lesnar’s abilities, but the dude is 5 and 1 and 33 years old. he has 3 impressive wins over a heavily undersized couture, a revenge win over mir, and a victory over carwin where he displayed a ton of heart and a ton of inexperience. while his inexperience leaves upside due to his ability to improve in areas, his standup is probably about where it is going to be in terms of a skill set - it might get a little crisper, but it is never going to be that great in terms of combos and speed - he’ll knock fools out if he connects, no doubt, but most strikers should see his punches coming before he’s even thought about throwing them. his wrestling has been honed over 20 + years and is about where it is going to be which is pretty exceptional on it’s own. he’ll learn new tricks in the submission game, but his body positioning is about where it is going to be for teh rest of his career as well, most wrestlers have a hard time playing the fluid jiu jitsu game and he looks to be one of them.
sure he’s a good heavyweight, but the only reason we’re even talking about him being unbeatable is because the ufc’s current hw crop does not pose a serious threat to a huge wrestler with a chin of granite (exceptions being carwin and cain at this point)
Personally I like how his ground game is developing; that heavy, slow top control style is in direct contrast to the game played by guys like George Soutiropolous and Deigo Sanchez, but given his size and strength can be very effective.
I disagree with anyone that says he’s near invincible. Lesnar is green, and has a lot to learn, especially on the feet, but given his rate of progress, and his physical attributes, I can see him going down as a dominant HW champion.
