hmm…quite few surprises there.

i will say that i’m not surprised Slice lost…he’s pretty one dimensional, and not really all that big of a heavyweight.

i was a little surprised by the Belcher win…i think Cote’s time off was a factor, but it hink i just underestimated Belcher a little. at least with his bonus money, he can get that crappy tatoo fixed…

I’m sad i will bring karate back one day.

CHEERS LYOTO

In your face Joe Rogan. You can remove Machida’s nuts from your mouth now.

Machida Era ended on one fight.

The funny thing is as much as people want to say: CHUCK LIDDELL was the last one to hold the belt for consecutive wins, 205lbs now back on the scramble.

technically lyoto defended and so did rampage

Kimbo looked strong in the first round and was hurt early in the second, maybe VERY late in the first.

Why the fuck did he get fired?

They never really wanted him for anything more than 1-2 fights to promote. It was pretty much an unstated thing that once he lost he was gone. He will be fine though. Smaller orgs will pay for his name to be on the card.

Was glad for shogun. He got robbed in the first one and this kinda makes up for it. Machida ends up being a huge loser in these two fights. The first one he handled very poorly. I didnt expect him to admit the loss but he was so arrogant about it that you wanted him to get his ass kicked. Shogun handled it like a professional and didnt whine about it but went out and made it right.

He wasn’t arrogant, he was professional. You expect him to say what? Oh here, take my belt i lost the fight.

FUCK what the fans think, it’s about keeping your belt anyway possible.

I expect him to not act like a dickhead and be arrogant about it. He knows he lost that fight. I didnt expect him to just hand over his belt or even admit that he lost but you dont act like you are the fucking greatest thing ever when you just got your ass kicked and the judges fucked it up.

There’s a lot of hate for Machida out there I really don’t understand. Hate for guys like Tito, Kos, Sanchez, & A.Silva i get but Machida an “Arrogant” “Dickhead”… really ?

When you put yourself up as the old school Karate respect or martial artists you better act like it and have honor. He has not acted in that manner since that fight. Guys like Tito or Kos dont say they are martial artists with respect they admit they are assholes. Its just Machida was a hypocrite and people dont like it.

Anyway, maybe karate fags will now accept that it isn’t machida’s “karate” that makes him successful, that perhaps it’s MACHIDA himself. Sorry fags, you can drop the dream that you’ll be like him from jumping around in your pajamas for 3 hours a week.

really? so athletes aren’t entertainers?

for the most part i think Machida’s acted like a decent guy, but Rua got robbed in their first fight, and he knew it. everybody knew it.

Easy killer. We do pretty well at not disrespecting different martial arts on this forum, and I’d like to keep it like that. Karate has a place, maybe not in MMA per se, but it is most certainly not only for “fags.”

Sorry, overzealous comment. But I was referring to the guys like my brother who champion Machida and tell themselves their Karate will take them to the top as well, despite the fact they train nothing like Machida, nor have the respective abilities that Machida posseses. Guaranteed his interest in the UFC will switch off now that Machida has lost the title.

You act as if Machida will never have the title again. The fact that the LHW belt has seen what, five different owners since Chuck should tell you that isn’t true.

Ok but i must be missing something…
since they set the rematch pretty much instantly I think that "Whenever he wants. I’ll Try again. No Problem " is the only pure “post fight” comment from Machida. All subsequent comments from both sides I put into the “pre fight” category and pretty much ignore.

Machida fans are pretty annoying in the same way that Bruce Lee fans are annoying and I think that brings alot of hate…the rest of the hate for him has got to be displaced hate for Rogan or something 'cause he (machida) seems like a class act to me and brings alot more to the sport than most.

I understood the context in your initial colorful comment…lol. We had one of those guys in our gym…and he was dead set on imitating Machida with his one year of “extensive” Shotokan at a Muay Thai school. You can imagine how that worked out for him.

Definitely nothing against Karate guys/gals…but a good portion seem to forget how long Machida has trained Shotokan and the level of his abilities. More so the people that seriously think that Karate will make them successful MMA fighters by default.

Sidenote: Machida’s style of karate is not what most people think it is. Look at his roots…he’s not a product of a McDojo.

Hmmm. Genetics + work ethic + a martial arts background that sounds like one you can get at the local strip mall (but isn’t). It reminds me of some other guy who inspired McDojoism for years after his retirement.

Whats up with all that hate? what is your style? maybe boxing by your avatar?

Man, you should post some of your fights because you talk shit about karate and mma and you love to praise those lame boxers who weight like 140lbs and think they can beat any style out there. I’m not impressed by 45 years old boxers dominating on boxing or even trying to move to MMA to get the crap beat out of them for a purse.

Do you really think James Toney or Mayorga will do something SHOCKING to MMA?? Maybe we should call Eastman for the ULTIMATE BOXING MATCH against Toney, even retired Ricardo Arona beated him.
