The rematch who takes it and why?
I can’t pick, I like both fighters and I have zero clue on who wins.
Machida is supposedly training to fight at middle distance and Shogun is training with high level karate guys that have transitioned their striking to a K-1 style. This is fight of the year in my opinion.
Koscheck Daley Daley is a bit overrated imo and no better than a Dan Hardy. This is a guy who lost to Nick Tompson only a year ago. Thompson even got the better of him in the first round striking by jabbing a lot. I’m taking Kos he beat a guy with more power in rumble already.
Kimbo Mitrione- don’t really care
Cote Belccher- Belcher should win, Cote has been out a while but who knows he has a steel chin.
Sam Stout Jeremy Stephens- I really get insulted that Stout thinks it’s cool to use a nickname of the greatest LW fighter of all time especially when he has pillow hands. The same with Rashad you are really going to call yourself sugar? Stout won his last fight but Lauzon looked like shit I’ll pick an upset and say stevens.
well, it depends on who is judging…i guess if the judges that were on the job for bjs last fight are there, i see shogun taking the unanimous, 50-45, decision…but if it’s the judges that were there last time, then machida takes a 48-47 across the board. you heard it here first.
and yeah, ‘sugar’ should be retired from use like they do with numbers in team sports. it irritates the shit outta me that rashad uses it
Machida - Shogun 2 : My pick is shogun. Fuck Machida, I wanted to fucking whack Rogan when he said “welcome to the Machida era” after the evans fight. Fucking hell. Shogun got fucking robbed in their first encounter. Personal feelings aside, I don’t think Machida will have evolved at all, whereas Shogun will have only gotten better at fighting Machida’s quirky style.
Kosheck - Daley : I’m going with Daley. Dude is fucking explosive and has great striking, I’d venture to say some of the best the UFC has to offer. Personally never liked Koscheck, he needs an attitude check, although he has gotten alot better in regards to that recently. Koscheck is a great wrestler, and his striking has improved dramatically, but it’s not on the same level as Daley.
Kimbo - Mitrione: Kimbo by far. Mitrione, who the fuck is he? He seems to think he has knockout power because he managed to drop some low level contender while backpeddling and flailing his hands. He’s also the biggest douche I’ve seen in a while. I was in fucking tears at his little outburst on TUF, I lost it when he started making farm animal noises “COME ON MOTHERFUCKER! SAY YOU GONNA SLAP ME HUH! MMMOOOOO!”
Rest don’t interest me.
Regarding the nickname issue, I hate it when butt pirates give themselves nicknames they have not earned, some of them are really, terribly corny too. You should earn a nickname, not just chuck on a moniker that you think is cool.
well, i hope Shogun wins by KO…i’m still irritated about their 1st fight. i’m sure they;ll both be improved, but i think Rua will take it.
i think Daley will TKO Koshhek. Kos is cocky enough to try to trade hands, but he got lucky on the few KO’s he has.
Cote and Belcher should be an awesome fight…i’m going with Cote. Belcher’s tough, but his striking ins’t as improved as he thinks.
Stout and Stephens should be another good fight, although i think Stephens will take it, unless Stout goes to the ground, which is the key to his success.
i hope Kimbo and Mitrone have a simultaneous KO that makes them both unable to fight MMA ever again…they’re both tools. (i don’t really hope ill of them, but it does irritate me that either one of them is a professional fighter, which shows that the HW division is not that deep yet…)
People are still hating on Kimbo and now, Matt Mitrione?
I think it’s cool Mitrione is getting a shot at UFC even though he didn’t win and I wish him the best after his Kimbo fight.
I don’t think Kimbo will ever be champ, but I do think he’ll make one hell of a water mark for the Heavyweight division now that he has TUF 10 and a win over H. Alexander under his belt.

Machida vs Rua:
Rua takes this. He had Machida’s style figured out the last fight, and really only faltered on the basis of aggressiveness. I don’t think he’ll make that mistake again.
Semtex vs Kos:
Kos should win. He isn’t that bad a boxer, has good hand speed and, more importantly, reaction times. I feel that Daley’s striking is being overhyped based on the KOs he’s gotten. Fine, he has power, that means a lot in MMA. But does he have the type of high level striking their making him out to have? Meh, dunno. Hazelet and Kampmann aren’t know for being the best strikers either, and Kos has better movement than both. I see Kos standing for a bit, and eventually going for the takedown and submission. Power isn’t everything.
Slice vs Mitrione:
Slice. I’m not impressed with Mitrione’s por-for-mance. Seems very green, with a sub par gas tank. That could mean he shows us something new every fight, or falters at this level. Lots of potential though, and despite his shitty fight on TUF, he displayed a knack for striking and surprising accuracy.
Belcher vs Cote:
I really want Cote to win, and not because of Alan’s shitty Cash tattoo. He has the better standup I think. Cote by TKO.
Semtex vs Kos:

Yeah, he does. After months of being totally unimpressed by the majority of fighter’s striking ability, I’ve found a measure of redemption in Paul Daley. As far as the UFC is concerned, he’s got great striking. I think he’s the only UFC fighter I’ve seen in ages that effectively employs body shots and effective foward combinations without losing his balance or looking like a retard.
Still, yeah, we need to see how he holds up against a proper opponent… Kos should do the trick.
He was beaten by Nick Thompson a year ago and was owned by Jakes Shields it was the most telegraphed armbar I’ve ever seen and Daly had zero clue how to defend. Barring Kos not being an idiot he should win this fight with ease, however Kos has never really stricken me as an intelligent fighter.
Daley striking is good, but watching the Kampmann fight I can’t help but feel he’s in love with that left hook. He doesn’t jab much (not that he needed to), got hit with a few good shots, doesn’t have very good hand speed, and seems to have poor head movement moving ahead.
That said, Aussie’s right, his striking is still great in MMA. Good combinations, that most MMA fighters don’t seem to put together, and two very powerful and technically sound punches.
However, I’m not sure if that’s enough against Kos. Don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t have good boxing, or lateral movement, and is a one-two-GTFO striker. He is however, fast, and has decent enough reflexes, and I think that will keep him afloat till he decides his ego is well fed enough and use that great takedown of his.
Just my guess, Daley could very well catch him like Thiago did.
Well…a proper left hook (which Daley has) is just about as rare as a proper jab in MMA. That said,a person with good angles, footwork, and a technical left hook is perfect for the weak footwork and head movement of a number of MMA fighters.
It’s true that power isn’t everything…but that’s not all Daley has with his striking. Also…Daley has a helluva reach for his height. You also have to take into account the excellent reaction time and reflex needed to have success with that left hook of his.
Considering that Koscheck’s stand-up is way more over-hyped than Daley’s(most of it being from Koscheck himself…lol)…he better plan to take fight to the ground.
That left hook of Daley’s is perfect for Koscheck’s right that he has tendency to “load up.”
Paulo Thaigo caught him slipping trying to load up right hand…Thiago Alves caught him slipping(with a left hook!) trying to load up right hand. Like I said…Koscheck better check his ego and take the fight where he has clear advantage.
Main even I’m taking Shogun, He obviously won the last fight, well at least in my eyes, and now that he has fought him and knows Machidas timming, he should have no problem picking him appart. I think its going the distance tho.
Daley is overated as you stated drewh, Kos is a STONG dude and probly the best wrestler in the ufc, (granted GSP is a stud with the double leg as well.) Kos will be able to take him down at will and I think even on the feet he could end it. This is going past the first round Kos - TKO
Kimbo is going to take his fight, He is a brawler and I think this fight is set up for him, they wont ever put him in the cage with a good wresler or bjj guy, and I think thats ok. Make the fights with Kimbo exciting, he will never be a contender but he will be entertaining.
Stout vs Stevens. Well Im going with stout. But he does not have “Hands of stone” as was talked about above. He is however a very good technical striker. He used to be a pro boxer. I think he will outpoint stevens for the win.
Cote is questionable, he hasnt fought for almost 2 years, that is a lifetime in this sport. So I think he will loose this fight.
Anyways I can’t wait for this card. Should be a good one!
Wow, props to Shogun. Definitely did not see that coming. Now THIS is the Shogun I’m used to seeing. If Shogun can bring it like this every fight (like he did in Pride) he’ll be tough to beat.
Kos with the domination, then Daley with the cheap shot at the end. Got him kicked out of the UFC. GSP will be too much for Kos and should win. I’m interested to see how Kos is as a coach on TUF 12.
I don’t know if Mitrione is that good, or Slice just got owned, but Mitrione dominated from the beginning. Kimbo got cut also.
