TYRE Weight

hey… ive been working out using a tyre recently. i was wondering could anyone give me a rough estimate about how heavy it is.

its a goodyear lorry tyre, i think it can hold 160Litres. or at least it says 160L on the side of it.

any help would be good

Check to see if it’s on this chart

cheers for the link.

but i think it is well smaller than them. its about 3 foot in diameter. and about a foot thick. ive been doing 300metre flips in sets of 50m with it.

than click on tire selector put in the size and find a similar thread pattern

a rough estimate is 250lbs based on that…

250lbs for 6 sets of 50 m. any good?

For your tire flippers, where do you get a hold of these giant tires?

Also, how difficult is each weight? Is a 700lb tire pretty good?

we got ours (rugby club has about 10) from a mechanics/tire seller. there all completly non road worthy and thread bare. but still nice and heavy. also try scrap yards, lorry repair yards and quarrys.

700lbs sounds like a good flip. we have none near that size.

Look for someone that sells lots of tractor tires. I found mine in a farm field and asked the farmer if I could have them. He told me he wouldn’t pay me to take them. I said I just want them. He was more than happy to get rid of them.

700 is good most Amateur LW strongman events seem to be around 600-700lbs. But depending on tread and shape some heavier tires can be easier than lighter tires.
