TUF Talk

Last night’s episode was interesting. I have no fucking clue why people thought that fight was close or why it needed a 2nd round. This is UFC judges not Pride. UFC always rewards people that move forward, take opponents to the ground, stay on top of their opponent the longest. That’s what Dante did.

Now Pride is a different story they reward activity and damage so Dante probably wouldn’t of done as well. Regardless, both guys looked like shit. Dante looked especially bad I mean how many years of experience does the guy have and he only has bjj skills.

I think Forrest didn’t want him to go for it because he was afraid he’d get reversed. Which doesn’t really make any sense because Tim’s ground game was way better than Riddle’s. Good fight though.

I was yelling at my tv for him to not go for it. I thought he was narrowly ahead on a decision, and I thought he would miss the arm bar judging by how the rest of the fight had gone. There is a big difference between finishing in the mount landing leather, and on the bottom covering up.

I didn’t care for either of them, but I found Riddle’s “my mom drives me to practice” comments pretty annoying.[/quote]

You must’ve loved the fact that after he lost, Ribble seemed more jazzed about winning an Xbox 360 than he was upset that he lost his shot at potentially winning a UFC contract.

Hey man, Riddle’s an optimist. He’s a glass is half-full kind of guy

All I could do was shake my head… I’ll say he at least brought the fight though.

As for Dante/Brandon I thought Dante won by UFC judging, but he looked like crap doing it. Wrestling was poor, and he did less from the top then Brandon did from the bottom. Am I crazy or do the fighters seem to be more evenly matched in ability. It was pretty disappointing after Dante talked that much to see him lay and pray. Forrest was complimenting his “slick submissions” so hopefully we’ll see better from him next time.

They award “aggression” and “octagon control” … so yeah, dante was on top, but when brandon’s throwing that many strikes is dante really controlling brandon? This isnt wrestling where you get points for taking a guy down, you’ve gotta (usually) do more than lay n pray

I agree with Dana White, who cares who won, I am not excited to see either guy step into the ring again.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Dante at welterweight because that’s where it looks like he belongs. He was like half the size of Brandon, who could be good himself with more training time.

Next week should be fun. Just like Amir said, I predict “Matt Brown by murder”. lol…

I really can’t believe Dante won, but at least we get to see Matt Brown win by murder…

As a side question, does anyone else in the combat sports forum feel a little hesitant click ‘submit’ or is it just me?

A good fighter is never afraid to tap. This is how we learn! Though it would be awesome if the mods made the button say “Tap” or something in this forum as an inside joke.

Would been nice to see Dana in the ring after the 2nd round and declared; Guys its a draw, will stop it here, we dont needs guys like you in the ufc, thanks!!

I agree Dante won by judging but i hate guys who just wanna go on the ground and when on the ground do fu…all!!

On Rampage…i dont wanna see him late alone in the street when he upset…!!!But this guy so funny!!

I know its early in the season but so far its one of the worst i think…well maybe the ufc should take a break of the TUF and wait until they find 16 very talented fighter.Well next one should be the ultimate ring girls season!!

I’ll won’t comment on the season quality until after next week, since they’re hyping it so much.

They may need a show since the current girls can’t even hold the ring card straight!

Next week,

Matt Brown 5-6

vs

Jeremy May 5-5

…hiiii seems exciting…

no seriously i know the record means nothing sometimes…not like boxing!! But i have a feeling that not many fighters of this season will get ufc contrat…most of them will probably get contract with some minor company…if they lucky Elitexc…Well im not excited with this season!!

Hey fellers, I play cards on Wednesday nights and just last night got caught up on the last 2 TUFs off the DVR - no commercials saweet…so, now I can post:)

Anyway, am I the only cat that liked Riddle? I think he’s a tough kid with a ton of promise. I may be totally wrong but I thought he was just being funny when he was talking about his mom driving him around and bragging about the xbox, although I’m sure he appreciates the consolation prize. I figured it was just his shtick. His line about Dante bronzing his shoes made me shoot my water through my nose. Either way mark my words, this kid will be back, he’s a total slugger with time to learn the ground game.

This brings me to Dante - dude whatever…he didn’t exactly walk the walk IMO. I think Riddle would have beaten him - no, I know Riddle would have beaten him. He definitely is in over his head in this class, he was out muscled, so how much of a bjj guy is he? I’m not saying he didn’t win the fight based on UFC judging - which btw I found it interesting that Dana was remarking that Brandon deserved credit for pounding Dante throughout when the UFC judges on control.

Back to Dante…I mean mad bjj skillz should offset much of the difference and he didn’t show us anything. Brandon was not that good, no offense, he showed a ton of heart and has some promise (I guess), but if your bjj is that good let’s see it for crying out loud.

I agree with you guys looking forward to the murder by Brown - if anyone annoys me it is Jeremy May. At least Nate Diaz backed his shit up (and still does) - if he can take out Brown then he can start playing his pranks.

Peace,

Mousse

I don’t like riddle, but I would agree that he looked better losing than dante did winning. Nothing dante showed backed up his trash talking in the least.

I think that Dante looked gassed. Based only on some comments made on the show, I think that it is very possible that team Forrest is overtraining. While they have won due to some smart picks and fights, all three of their fighters looked gassed in the ring. Could have been Dante’s problem.

BTW, I think that he lost. He took him down and did no damage. From the bottom, Brandon did a lot a damaget it as any movie in recent memory, in terms of people talking about how great it is,

I like him too because he’s a both a goofball and a gamer in the cage. Of course, I’m a sucker for highlight reel knockouts and he delivered one of those in the second show.

I noticed that, and I reckon it came on in the last two minutes of round 2.

I agree that Brandon should have won. He had no answer to Dante’s take downs, but somehow controlled the fight as much as is possible from your back. However, it was a pretty uninteresting fight - like Dana said.

I like Riddle. He is a goofy kid with little experience but he did well. A bit more training and he might be good. Dante was not impressive at all.

I think Dante went to the Tim Sylvia school of how to win in the UFC.

I liked Matt Brown until he went crazy eyes killer because a dude put lime juice in his tabaccy. If that kind of shit sets a guy off that bad I’d hate to see him lose his composure when the shit really hits the fan. Grow up dude.

Dana White thinks he is on HBO’s Deadwood.

With the exception of Charles Bennett, Rampage might be the funniest guy in MMA.
