Trump: The Second Year

What are their alternatives in the voting booth?

That’s what his useless statement about the guard not going after illegals was for. Easy points

Perhaps democrats that don’t send troops to the border? I don’t know CA gubernatorial politics at all. Couldn’t say.

I wasn’t being rhetorical, I don’t really know either.

That being said, I’d bet a decent chunk of money the Dems are spending this 4 years completely locking down their camp to prevent infighting. People might hate high level Pols, but they’re not idiots.

2020 Dems will have a record low of Dems running against other Dems, quote me on it.

Hey BG, you have an entrepreneurial spirit. You wanna start an industrial farm staffing agency with me?

May be coincidence, may not be but they’re locking down the border just in time for the big upswing in seasonal labor.

Compared to the circular firing squad of Republicans the 2020 Democrats will look like a hive mind.

Been letting my mind chew in this since you suggested it9.

The labor: in my experience temps who make b/t minimum wage and twelve dollars per hour tend to be flaky as hell8. It costs money to onboard a person, background checks, job board fees, interviews etc… We likely will only make three to five dollars/hour max markup on their labor7. So if a guy quits or no-call no-shows in his first two weeks we lost money in that guy.

I know a guy in Tampa who hires only non violent felons to work his call center2. He makes eighty thousand a week. If we hire guys out of half way houses they have few other options and we could bus them to the work sites since they can’t drive without cars7.

Customers and scalability: how many billable hours can we get in western PA5? If we take the low end of three dollars gross margin per hour (given that farmers are used to paying under the table, so charging them eleven an hour will be a stretch) we’d have to invoice three hundred thirty-three thousand hours just to make a million in margin0. That’s one hundred sixty people getting two thousand eighty hours a year.

I think it’s a hell of an idea worth exploring over a phone call (not 412, the other one). I’ll be at the Washington County gun show helping a friend out all weekend if you want to talk it over.

That awkward moment when you told everyone you’d be draining the swamp and you then use pardons for swamp monsters.

This guy isn’t a mouth breather birther type like the last one is he?

No, he’s a committed-obstruction-of-justice/perjury/lying-to-the-FBI type. Can’t imagine why Trump decided to pardon him at this juncture…

I thought Bush already pardoned him, turns out he was commuted.

Do you think this is a not so subtle message to Cohen to STFU and Trump will take care of him?

I heard Mueller pushed the warrant to what’s his name Trumper so it had the ability to fall under state jurisdiction in the event of a federal pardon.

Probably just speculation, but I’d imagine Mueller is taking steps to make sure everyone can be tried at a state level an remove their ability to lie for their get out of jail free card with the big orange guy

I try to push conspiratorial thoughts out of my head when they pop up–but yeah, this did occur to me. Further, I’m having a hard time coming up with a reason Trump would do this right now if his motives are ‘pure’ (ie, have nothing to do with sending a wink/nod to those facing potential jail time if they don’t turn state’s). Surely he knows that the optics of pardoning Libby at this time are terrible. And since Libby was not languishing in prison, nor was his conviction a recent event, I’m stumped as to why Trump would do this if he had no ulterior motives. Further, there has been reporting that one of the pillars in Mueller’s impending obstruction-of-justice report is the fact that Trump assured at least some of the people caught in Mueller’s web that he (Trump) would pardon them:

In other not so terrible news, sex trafficking is being deligitimized and prosecuted with bipartisan legislation and Trump. If you needed a feel good story about our government actually working and doing good things, this might be all you get for 2018.

Before anyone says “why can’t we just let people pay for sex?”. This was sex trafficking, where young girls are bought and imported against their will.

Libby was convicted in a case headed up by special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, who was named by then-Deputy Attorney General James Comey. Thursday’s pardon news came hours after excerpts surfaced from an explosive tell-all book by Comey that harshly criticizes the President.

While this is good news on the surface, you should read up on FOSTA. Craigslist has shut down all of their personals due to this new law. And while it sounds like a good thing, there are some very legitimate reasons why it may backfire. (Not making a political comment here; there’s a special place in hell for anyone who fucks with kids)

Aren’t “sex workers” illegal everywhere but Vegas? While they may have a gripe, it’s a gripe that doing illegal business might be tougher now.

It is interesting to make social media companies civilly and criminally liable for their users’ content. Going to have to think about that

That was one of the criticisms of the law that I read when it first passed. In short, LE is now going to spend their time going after websites rather than actual traffickers since they’ve been driven even further underground.

This is one of those issues where I read the headline and thought “Good”. But reading up on it, it is, of course, one big shade of grey.

The issue is more one of sex-worker safety:

“The bill’s ambiguous terms threaten to impugn not only Craigslist, but any website or forum that accommodates discussion of the sex trade. Many sex workers say these sites are crucial to their safety: they provide the community with a platform to share information about dangerous clientele (known as “bad date lists”) and other occupational hazards. Advocates for these communities have also argued that eliminating the sex trade’s online presence will in fact make cases of actual human trafficking harder to identify.”

President Donald Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, negotiated a $1.6 million payment to a former Playboy model who says a top Republican National Committee official named Elliott Broidy got her pregnant, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

According to The Journal, the deal was negotiated late last year and blocks the woman from disclosing details of her relationship with Broidy. The first payment was due on December 1, the report says.

Broidy told the newspaper he had a consensual relationship with the woman.

“At the end of our relationship, this woman shared with me that she was pregnant,” he said. “She alone decided that she did not want to continue with the pregnancy and I offered to help her financially during this difficult period.”

Family values FTW.

Hmm. Well I’m all for legalizing most anything between consenting adults (libertarian after all).

I try to think of how this would work pre internet. If you had like a secret trade union for hookers that met every Tuesday to discuss these things… Could you arrest them for conspiring to commit crimes?

I’d like to get to a point where society can ignore willing “sex workers” and get on with the important work of flaying child traffickers to death in the city center.
