Trump: The First Year

I never said it was the only ban so far. I said it doesn’t ban the countries that were responsible for 9/11. Are you trying to dispute that?

Furthermore, why does it matter who recommended the ban? Trump’s the guy implementing it. Doesn’t matter who’s idea it was, if you implement garbage its on you (Trump). Garbage is garbage regardless of who comes up with it.

(Also this is the only ban so far anywhere near this magnitude, and has the least amount of reasoning behind its selection)

Cause it shows he’s taking advice from previous administration on where to start with the ban.

This ban is the beginning of a bigger one most likely

No it doesn’t, because he took a small piece of something and escalated the shit out of it. That’s like saying all car companies are trying to copy Ford, because they started it all. Ferrari isn’t pulling advice from Ford.

Which, again, would be great of him to add in his defense of the ban, instead of specifically omitting the countries responsible for 9/11 instead of writing them checks.

And it’s out…

It would eliminate the mandates that require nearly all Americans to have coverage and companies with more than 50 workers to provide health benefits. And it would jettison Obamacare’s taxes on the wealthy, insurers and others, while allowing insurers to charge more to older policyholders.

I also saw elsewhere there’s a provision that requires anyone with a lapse of 63 or more days of coverage during the prior year must wait six months before being eligible for new coverage.

I have no idea what you are talking about, the countries on the list were recommended as travel ban candidates by Obama administration. That’s not escalating anything

Anyways I think I’m done here you are making stuff up

Candidates → actually banned is kinda like definition of an escalation.

I’m making up Trump leaving the countries that sponsored 9/11 out of the ban?

It’s also anticipated that:

  1. Premiums with be higher, and

  2. While in theory you can’t be denied for a pre-existing condition…premiums will be prohibitively high.

Yep. I just don’t understand how anyone thinks having 22 million less people in the pool is going to magically lower premiums. I also hear they’re bringing back lifetime caps. I have a special needs nephew that would’ve blown past that cap years ago had it not been for the ACA.

Actually, it’s not magical at all. If the chronically ill poor are forced to drop insurance because they can’t afford it (which will happen under the Senate bill), the remaining pool of insured folk will be (relatively speaking) younger and healthier. Getting rid of those pesky, expensive sick people will allow the ins cos to charge a little less, which will result in a decrease in the average premium. Further, the option to choose high-deductible plans (which sound great in theory, until you actually need coverage and find you don’t have $10K lying around to meet the deductible), will result in lower premiums as well.

The absurdity lies in the notion that enormous amounts of money can be pulled from the HC market without affecting the number of covered individuals and/or the quality of their coverage. I would call that ‘magical thinking’ if I thought for a second that anyone actually believed it.

Which one of the proposed bans gets rid of Raj? That’s the one I support!

We aren’t safe with people who are from Muslim countries. 108% of them are terrorists. Let’s get rid of him and make America great again!

I understood that, without the mandate, many of those younger, healthier individuals are going to drop out, raising premiums for everyone else. Not to mention the uninsured (and those with the high-deductible plans who cannot pay their hospital bills), will continue to clog ERs and, unable to pay, leave the hospital to charge higher rates to cover the difference.

Yes, one of the challenges faced by the GOP plan is how to get the ‘young invincibles’ to buy insurance. But again, if the sick folk are forced out, average premiums will eventually settle at a lower rate.

Sorry, will do tomorrow.

Thanks.
Will read later after supper.

Trump: pure class

I beg to differ. A classy sexual predator says “Grab 'em by the vagina.” Would not use the gauche ‘P word.’

Do you mean “Aristotelian” logic? I thought I caught a whiff synoptic analysis in your well reasoned posts. Well done, sir! I shall return to my college texts and read up on the details of categorical arguments prior to returning to duel with a master such as yourself. I’m embarrassed to say, I have taken some philosophy classes during my studies at the University; suffice to say I still have much to learn before I can fully digest and retort to the logical essays you have endowed upon the T Nation users. G’day.

Words that have never, ever been written about Trump before.
