Business Insider did a piece yesterday that touches on a lot of what I’ve been saying for years. Millennials get a bad rap, but the generation hasn’t exactly had it easy.

That’s simply Baby Boomers self-projecting on millenials, as Boomers are the most selfish, self-absorbed, and godless generation. The very expensive bill the Boomers ran up is coming due, and they are starting to lash out to shift the focus off of their dismal run.
You don’t understand how businesses work. The people upset by this singular PC move have nowhere else to turn for right leaning news so they’re basically locked in consumers.
The honest message like intentionally misquoting those UK mayor?
Which is why the “me” portion comes in with how our generation has enough self respect to not be cogs in a corrupt machine quite as often. This “I violated the Constitution for corrupt Politicians because I was ordered to” bullshit doesn’t fly with millennials as often.
Same thing has been said about mine.
As a generation X’er, I can tell you that this is bullshit. There are plenty of good solid millennials serving their country with traditional American values and selfless dedication to causes greater than themselves.
You just admitted this is a bad move, you just assume demand for breitbart is inelastic.
Again you’re wrong. breitbart is one of lead news sources on the right but there are plenty of alternative media sites. More will spring up if breitbart continues to bend to PC narrative
Agreed, I’ve always been curious how this generation gets the blame even though we can only work with the foundation we were laid to work upon.
The largest market of jobs require only a 2 year degree at this point and they pay well, our generation is probably the best “educated” (as far as post HS participation in colleges and universities) but it has watered down the market in my opinion.[quote=“pfury, post:1026, topic:229190”]

So just an aside (I agree that we are less likely to just “follow orders”) but is it for self-serving/survival or altruistic/betterment of my fellow man type of reasons?
Yes. A bad move for the company for her to be saying things like this. I don’t assume breitbart is inelastic. I assume they care about their checking accounts more than they do their integrity (as is proven by the firing of that reporter).
Then the market dictates they’ll lose subscribers/viewers to other sources. I doubt that will happen though.
A little bit of both I think. I think a lot of it boils down to the self respect that you don’t get to have if you blindly follow orders that are bad for the country at its core.
Absolutely. A general 4-year degree means almost nothing anymore.
This times 1000. Baby Boomers buried Millenials (and everyone else) in debt under the concept that young people were automatic telller machines with unlimited ability to fund their wants. And, while liberals seem perplexed by this, the ACA was the cherry on top - after making sure young people have stagnant wages with a sputtering economy and fewer opportunities, and loads of debt (student loan debt to match skyrocketing tuition, future tax raises, etc.), the older generation decided that they needed even more - and that even though young people didn’t have prospects enough to buy homes and have steady jobs, they would require them to overpay for health insurance.
Millenials have their own issues, but it’s fair for them to complain. A lot.
And I make this point primarily because liberal Democrats seem completely baffled by the fact that young people - who generally trend more liberal - aren’t enamored with the ACA. It’s because the ACA was always regressive against young people and the middle class - the healthy, not the wealthy, and there’s little blood left to squeeze out of the turnip.
Lol, hilarious if true.
Probably partly true. I think also that college degrees have become less valuable not just due to the growing number of them in the market but also due to standards I consider not as high in many courses of study. Not all of course, but this is a trend that I see. I don’t know that I can prove this however.
I would amend that statement and say that the fastest growing market is in that 2 year area, that probably represents it more accurately.
FAKE NEWS - no way it was only four. ![]()
They’re trying to push people with double digit IQs into post secondary education. As a result they have to dumb down programs to accommodate this.
You can also see the effect in the private sector as employers have much more rigorous interview and hiring practises because all these incapable people are being churned out of school.
Before if you had a degree in basically anything they’d hire you because people who had degrees were automatically considered smart
Ask millenials how prepared they feel their education made them for their first real job - the answer is often not very much

That’s as much their fault as it is higher educations. In my experience, every class was the same. No one said a word or asked a question for 8 weeks and then come mid-term/final:
“Professor, will there be a study guide?”
“Professor, what will be on the test?”
“Professor, what do we need to know for the final*”
“Professor, it’s not going to be cumulative, right?”
*Meaning, what do I need to cram into my brain for an hour and then forget.
I don’t know how Professors do it. My response would be, “Your notes for the last 16 fucking weeks are the study guide. Good luck.”
Trump undermines his own travel ban and Justice Department.
If this pattern continues, Mr. Trump may find himself running an Administration with no one but his family and the Breitbart staff. People of talent and integrity won’t work for a boss who undermines them in public without thinking about the consequences. And whatever happened to the buck stops here?
