I did like Pence…a lot (“the adult in the room”) thing…until he started coming off as a judgmental, uninformed Toadie to Trump. Trumps kids and Son-in-Law appear to have more “power” than he has…they certainly appear to be given more to do.
I think Ryan is still a Top-Notch Legislator. With another President, I thought that he would be able to get a lot done. What a waste of real talent…and I think he is honestly just a good guy…
But…there are still 4-8 years to go…things can change in that time.
Contrary to what many on the right say (Zeb)…Obama did not get a “pass” with the media.
Most President’s (in my memory, at least) do get some “breathing room”…if they don’t go out of their way to disparage and malign them in the way Trump has.
What he has actually done is unprecedented. His followers may Love it…but they should also expect the press will not give Trump room to breath.
I never said we had to back that far. However, in order to get a good idea of which party handles the economy better we would need to look at the modern Presidents from Ike on up. Simply cherry picking which ones that you want to look at proves nothing. It is probably more trouble than what it is worth. But if we did look at the stats from those years we would have an answer.
As the first black President I think even people on the left will admit that he got a free pass. One can only imagine how the media would react had Trump used the NSA to spy on US citizens, or used the IRS to attack the other party. Gun running to Mexico… I’ll stop right there. We went from a President that was very much favored by the press to one that has been relentlessly attacked.
That’s politics and whomever the republican might have been from Rubio to Cruz, Bush or Kasich none of them would have gotten the hands-off treatment that Obama received.
As I said it would not have mattered which republican won. The left wanted Hillary and each would have been treated poorly. One only need look at the treatment received by GW Bush. After he won a close election vs. Al Gore in 2000 the press had a field day with him.
But to be fair there is no doubt Trump is getting it a bit worse than most republicans because of who he is and his general demeanor…no question.
Yes, by the far right, no doubt. But in this instance I am referring to the MSM. I think it’s rather obvious from the time he was sworn in and Chris Matthews got that chill up his leg to the time he left office to the tears of the left on MSNBC he was a favored media darling.
So every right leaning MSM source was hard on Obama, and every left leaning MSM source is hard on Trump. Is your problem with the media that the GOP is outnumbered?
According to the NSA not stopping anything they were doing. Are you of the opinion that Trump got into power, stopped the NSA spying program completely, and didn’t tell anyone or go through legislative means to make it happen?
So again, is your problem that the right is outnumbered?
Did Obama go through legislative means to enact it?
No, actually believe it or not my problem is that I would like to view unbiased media. Currently I have to flip back and forth between FOX and MSNBC to get both sides of the story. You know it would be nice if there were at least one outlet that could be viewed which represented the actual truth without the party filter. And then we have CNN which is at this point a complete joke.
So yeah fairness would be nice.
But none of this means that Obama didn’t get a free pass by the majority of the media. My original point.
Actually it was launched under W Bush. Obama failed to stop it, and currently Trump has also failed to stop it.
Nope, as he didn’t enact it.
Unfortunately that’s no longer possible. As they’re businesses, they’re going to cater to audiences to increase revenues.
When looked at logically, we see the left gave the left a free pass, and the right gives the right a free pass. While your point is factual, it’s not particularly earth shattering, as its been that way for years.
This is a sudden change historically as I recall quite clearly that ABC, NBC and CBS not being nearly as bias back in the day. They were attempting to appeal to the general public and not a certain segment. Much easier to hear the straight facts.
Glad you agree. It’s factual and it’s definitely not earth shattering as it is very obvious to anyone who cares to pay the slightest attention.
The war with the media is an intentionally concocted phenomenon. It is Trump’s way to ‘wag the dog.’ He cannot function politically without an enemy at which to direct his (and his follower’s) ire. HRC is gone, so until/unless we experience another major terror attack, it’s gotta be the media. Warring against the media has the added bonus of discrediting the very people who are responsible for publicizing his (Trump’s) ineffectiveness, as well as what appears more and more to be scandalous behavior on the part of his family and minions.
Pence is a seasoned politician, and does a fine job of maintaining a public persona as the ‘sober, honest adult in the room.’ But the fact is, there is mounting evidence that he was an indirect participant in the Russian imbroglio, and thus may not be the squeaky-clean do-gooder he presents himself as.
I find Ryan to be a typical Randian–developmentally arrested at the adolescent stage. (It is telling that when he has spoken publically about dismantling Medicaid, he has linked it to late-night bull sessions he had at keggers in college.) And of course, like Rand herself, there’s the fact he didn’t mind suckling at the public teat when he had the opportunity himself.
Criticism of Trump =/= left wing bias.
Or put another way, sometimes the facts themselves seem to have a ‘left wing bias.’
