Trump Tests Positive for COVID-19

Even though the potential for many more people to die from covid than murder is a possibility?

What do you suggest we do in the meantime? If yanno…there is a ā€œmeantimeā€?

Cite?

Are you suggesting that a place like Jamaica ignore (or give minimal attention to it) Covid, because murder is a bigger issue?

The fuck do I care about Jamaica? So there are rising infections here…look at how many are recovering. That should paint a wonderful picture for you. Then take a look at the gun violence that continues to surge in places like NYC where the Mayor and Governor have their thumbs up their asses not sure what to do except bow to the ridiculous BLM movement because of ā€œracial injusticeā€ and ā€œsystemic racismā€. Fucking get a clue and quit following the goddamn narrative.

Didn’t the gun violence in NYC correspond to loosening up of the restrictions?

No, the Mayor literally said the surge in gun violence is somehow correlated to coronavirus. WTF? Couldn’t at all be related to bail reform, bringing people in and letting them go, NYPD retiring early/quitting because their ability to arrest criminals is so suppressed now, they risk a lawsuit left and right, etc. etc.

Everything bad is. I know two people(married couple) that have had it. One lost his sense of taste, and the other loss her sense of smell(for a day each). I consider myself lucky: During The Great Covid Death, I have known no one that got sick.

The thing is that COVID can’t effectively be stopped as we now see, most people dying from it are old and sick and could die from anything at any time already, and the ineffective measures being used to try to stop the spread are greatly increasing the rate of poverty and starvation around the world. In places where crime and murder are already out of control, when things get difficult then more people turn to robbing and killing to feed themselves and their families. So while COVID is a problem, the cure is worse than the disease.

I already linked the article twice in this thread, I’m not linking it again for some dumb fuck who thinks he knows everything. Go back and look for it.

I am suggesting that everywhere in the world needs a different strategy, and I am not alone.

Great Barrington Declaration - As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection

It corresponded to the disbanding of the anti-crime unit and other cuts to the NYPD

A lot of places let people out of jail who were in for non-violent crimes and bail is much easier to get too because of the supposed threat of COVID in jail. Is it the same in NY?

You mean tue article about Ontario?

I am wholesale stealing this one. It’s very succinct.

If I go to the hospital for problems caused by diabetes, I die, and testing reveals that Iā€˜d just seen a bear before coming in, what killed me?

It’s wishful thinking that cannot be applied in real life. Whenever I ask a ā€œit’s just the fluā€ denier how does ā€œprotecting the elderlyā€ work in practice I get the same talking points repeated again and again.

Btw, the Declaration is pretty much the same crowd that’s making the rounds on conservative alt-right media. Oh, and thousands of fake signatures as well.

New Zealand? Taiwan?

When in doubt, pick C.

So then what? Either don’t protect them, or cripple the economy with lockdowns and they still get sick anyway like what is happening right now.

Dissects the impact of lockdowns on the economy.

This is a false dilemma as it isn’t either or.

I don’t need the IMF to tell me what the impact is. In a wealthy country like Canada we have already increase the deficit more than 10x after the first lockdown, many small businesses shut down and other were just trying to stay afloat, massive unemployment and hardly any jobs. Now we have a second lockdown in Ontario and Quebec. Soon this is going to be a third world country.

See what I was responding to and what that was in response to. The way things are being managed is no good at all.

I am just saying those are not the only options. Look at New Zealand. They have done lockdown, and they are not seeing a resurgence of cases. They currently have 0 cases and have had about 25 total deaths.

I think our best option would have been to have done a proper lockdown like New Zealand did. Just get it over with type of thing.
