Anybody who thinks that Biden is a mouthpiece and/or is only in for a year probably listens to Alex Jones, is a Qanon supporter, etc. In other words, theyâre voting for Trump already. Thatâs why this debate was unlikely to move the needle. The vast majority of people have made up their minds already.
To be fair it was unlikely to do much anyway. We are talking about VPâs right? Remember John Nance observed: âthe vice presidency is not worth a bucket of warm spit.â
I think Pence did the best he could with a hand full of shit cards. He deflected, didnât answer questions and turned some things around in a non-sensical way that may have fooled some fools, or relieved some cognitive dissonance in others. Harris was just OK. I didnât like that fact that she wouldnât answer the question about stacking the supreme court and that she failed to be critical of violent protesters when she easily could have. But those two omissions probably donât matter to a lot of others.
So they both just played to their bases for the most part.
Donât be so sure. Do VP debates matter? Not really. But theyâre both being cagey about these two issues precisely because they know theyâd be damaging no matter which side they came down on.
An even more glaring omission was that both refused to comment on the fact that two men aged 77 and 74 are looking for a four year term and their roles.
And to think that people were obsessing about McCainâs age when he was running against Obama.
Itâs no omission when we know the answer to the question. Both of them are are one bad week from pushing their septuagenarian counterparts down the nearest set of stairs.
I agree with you but I think youâre emphasizing the point I was making in that theyâre both just playing to their bases for the most part. Harris was more reserved in that sense which does make sense in that theyâre in the lead so thereâs little reason to play offense. Pence had to play offense more, but he failed to do that in my opinion.
Itâs kindaâ a wash then right? Bidenâs a little older but appears to be in better shape than the obese Trump. Weâve got two very senior citizens as our choices so thereâs no separation there.
Mostly agree. I would say that Biden and Harris being cagey about the court and Antifa is more about playing to the base while avoiding any statements that could cost them middle of the pack voters.
Nixon opened up communist China, which has turned out to be a disaster, and started the war on drugs. He sucked for that alone.
Despite the doubts, I did read the whole stinking mess, even the provisions for ship building and plane commerce. Even if it wasnât falling apart, it was a bad deal for the U.S. Iran got all the benefits and we got a pinky swear they wouldnât attempt to build nuclear weapons for 15 years, essentially. Itâs a little more complex than that, but after 15 years of good faith, their would be little in the way of monitoring and assurance. That being 5 years ago and Iran is still a sworn enemy of the U.S and thereâs 10 years left on the deal, that bodes little confidence.
All the while, the deal if it worked as designed was only supposed to slow development of a war head by 10 months. Better than nothing, but a lousy exchange for what we gave up and would continue give up over time.
If youâre Iran, it was a great deal. If your the U.S. youâre relying on the threat of sanction snap-backs if they violated the deal.
Well, the E3 countries still involved, which is still a good deal for Iran, cannot get full compliance from Iran, yet, no sanctions are âsnappingâ back from those countries.
In short, everything I thought was wrong with the deal and would be a problem,at the time, is and has been. And if lowly me could figure that out, it damn sure didnât take a rocket scientist to figure out it was never going to work.
Obama was the Nevil Chamberlain of negotiators. Give up a lot for a little and get run over anyway.
The deal is somewhere out there still, read it for yourself. You donât have to take my word for it, but tell me when you do, if you do not find yourself inadvertently facepalming.
I thought it was my implicit bias too. But I found her demeanor creepy and itâs exactly like I felt about hillary. Well, I am sure implicit bias plays a part anyway.
Itâs official now, death with COVID equals death from COVID:
The daily pandemic death counts in Ontario include people who have tested positive for COVID-19 but have not necessarily died from the virus.
The exact number of people who fit into this category is unknown by the government and not even being counted.
âŠ
Dr. Vivek Goel, a former President and CEO of Public Health Ontario, agrees.
âŠ
âBeing inclusive in counting all possible cases, as this suggests is the direction, seems to be appropriate to me,â he added.
Considering that nearly everyone who died âfrom COVIDâ was supposed to have other comorbidities, has COVID actually killed anyone? If you have the virus and get shot, hit by a train, or jump from a window itâs the COVID that did it.
@NickViar and @everybodygetsone have mentioned this before and I was a bit skeptical, but itâs 100% official now.
