What I have heard people assert (I am not asserting this, but it seems reasonable), is that he got a rather bad case of Covid (was on oxygen and steroids, and has been seen breathing laboriously), but is now downplaying how bad it was to project power, and say I told you it wasn’t that bad.

Well they weren’t drinking every day before and suddenly they were, and lining up for hours. Normally liquor stores aren’t busy on weekdays except Friday evening. More people started using hard drugs, more overdoses, and so on. It all coincided with the lockdown.
So they like him more now and believe even more that COVID is nothing serious because he went to the hospital, as opposed to just relaxing and taking it easy in the white house? All the parades and whatever prove is that people like him.
That makes no sense, is Trump secretly more socialist than the Democrat party? Wanting what someone else has doesn’t give any reason to suspect they are working together, but what evidence is there that Trump wants to lead an oligarchy anyway? This sounds like another harebrained leftwing conspiracy theory.
That’s like blaming a car accident 2 days ago for something that happened in high school.

He is saying Covid hasn’t made anyone drink, and you are saying statistically, people are drinking more. I think we could run this experiment 100 times and we will see an increase in drug / alcohol abuse every time. Is the shutdown a good excuse, no. Do people use it as an excuse, for sure. That’s the difference between what you are talking about here. I am guessing @SkyzykS would agree that we have seen an uptick in drug use, and I am guessing you would agree that it isn’t a good excuse, right?

And instead of graciously backing away from it, we get furious rage updates on when and how Trump wears his mask and when he takes it off, how he walks, breaths and moves.

How about, he got covid, felt crappy, went to the hospital, got treated and released and feels better, but not totally out of the woods, naturally, because it hasn’t run it’s full course? Why can’t that just be reasonable. He’s the POTUS, he’s going to get the best treatment, whether he needs it or not.
I’ve been to the hospital. I have received oxygen and some form of cortisone shot, for seemingly no reason, out of an abundance of caution, not because I was in eminent danger. Getting a cortisone shot is one of the most common treatments for just about everything because inflammation causes problems and it’s better to be safe than sorry. A lot of times, they just hook you up to oxygen because of procedure.
I had the stomach flu and they gave me an oxygen tube. It’s so ridiculously average that it’s hard to believe it’s news at all, much less hysteria.

The only part of that theory that isn’t supported by facts is that he is now trying to project power by downplaying how bad his case was, and that he can now say that “I told you it wasn’t that bad”.
Do you not think his stunt in the SUV was not trying to project power, and downplay how bad his case was? I am not saying for sure, because we don’t know what he was thinking, but to me it is a reasonable theory.
