I know you’re in Texas, is your property large enough to shoot at those distances in your backyard?
Yesterday is the first I had heard of MOA, but it seems simple geometry of angles and sectors of a circle.
As I understand this, MOA means Minute of Arc or Minute of Angle. There are 360 degrees in a circle. One degree makes a small sector of a circle. By the definition of a “minute” as it relates to degrees of an angle, a minute is 1/60th of a degree. (There are 60 minutes in a degree.)
One MOA is a very small sector of a circle. One minute of MOA is about equal to 1" at 100 yards, 2" at 200 yards, 3" at 300 yards, etc.
That’s a perfect explanation.
I’ll be curious to learn what his rifle setup was. I’ll be curious to know everything about this landmark historic event.
Meanwhile, buckle up.
It’s not difficult for 14-15 year old hunters in Wisconsin. I was keep sub 1-inch groups at 100 yards with iron sights as a teenager.
Not in my backyard. I live in a town. Typical residential scenario.
The in-laws are generational cattle ranchers in Texas and their property is large enough to shoot those distances many times over.
I’m an iron sight snob, but god damn do I hate the irons on an AR. Even with the smaller aperture, I’m not a fan. We usually plink at steel from around 100-150y and it always takes me more time to find point of aim with my AR.
I like holographic red dots for AR’s. Sometimes a magnifier for a little distance. I don’t want to turn them in to precision rifles they are not designed to be personally, and I agree with the iron site assessment.
I feel like red dots are the best for field of vision, quick acquisition and and more or less unenhanced shooting in a way AR’s are designed.
Mine are about 60% range guns and 40% wild hog hunters, so I do get some dynamic action.
I equally enjoy hog hunting with an old school lever action. It has iron sites.
James Yeager used to say how red dots are great for beginners and target acquisition because you, “put the thing on the thing and pull the thing.”
Another envious poster who is upset I escaped the employment parameter, when he has not.
Its paradigm dumbass.

here is what (smarter then me) people are saying. definitely will win in Nov. sometimes during his presidency, probably early expect a financial collapse, worse then great depression. believe what you will. the system hangs on a thin rope. here is what i will do with my remaining time: other then food/weapons/ammo and typical prepper shit, if you are on TRT like me, I am stacking up a year+ worth of supply of UGL Test.
Will that be right after the Covid vaccine wipes out 1/3 of humanity like you previously predicted? Tough times ahead indeed!
I thought he meant perimeter.
Was on SWAT with a SEAL Team 4 member who was also sniper qualified through their program. He was the section leader and is one of my closest pals. Marines are well regarded as the best. That said… there are some seriously impressive snipers out there.
Coriolis effect. Hathcock was a country boy from Arkansas and is widely regarded as the GOAT of American snipers. His shots are beyond comprehension. My favorite is how he killed The Apache… a female viet cong sniper that tortured Americans. Read it.
Coriolis force is greater the nearer the object is to the poles, but the force is zero at the equator. You would need to consider what latitude you are in.
I was telling Njord what it is he was referencing… it has no bearing on this particular shot.

Just helping people understand all the complexities of sniper shooting.
I got interested in the Coriolis Effect studying the movement of hurricanes in the Atlantic Basin.
