In the US, for the last 50 years, it’s not considered a War during the first 60 days.
It seems Khamenei is dead. Good riddance I guess.
Does this top Pres Obama getting Bin Laden?
It depends. It’s hard to compare terrorist leader to a theocratic dictator.
I’ve followed situation in Iran at times, and it’s moving how the people have suffered and endured under the islamic rule of Khamenei. So I’m more than happy to see him go.
Bin Laden was much more symbolic than strategic.
Khamenei is different. How many additional leadership were neutralized along with the Iranian theocratic leader?
They are saying 40 top officials were killed. Time for the people to take it all the way.
Side note: some of you would stub your toe and blame Israel for the crack in the sidewalk.
Trump has confirmed Khamenei is dead. If Persians somehow manage to overthrow the regime (with our help, of course), it could be one of the greatest liberations in history. Still too early to call that, but I doubt Trump would’ve committed if there wasn’t a high probability.
It reminds me of a friend of mine from back in the ‘90’s who would get mad if someone called him Iranian. He was very American but adamant that his ethnicity was Persian. He hated the Mullahs in the same way that my grandparents hated Nazis and Communists.
I remember when Israel tried some last minute bombing hijinks before the Gaza cease fire, and Trump basically cursed out Netanyahu on live mic with reporters.
Nuance. Only the unbiased know what that means.
And in the vacuum left from the destroyed Islamic government, what will fill the void? Hmm. What has history shown us? How have past toppled Islamic states reformed their government? With another Islamic dictatorship.
Only those with a crystal ball have the answers.
It’s the Middle East. Fuckery is always the path of least resistance, and most likely outcome.
Doesn’t mean stomping on the cockroaches is bad, or wrong.
I mean, it could be awful. Like an islamist death cult who tries to create nukes and ICBMs while shouting “Death to America”.
Israel was 1000% an instigator if not engineer for this. The only reason Iran was mad at us is because we always side with Israel, often in issues that have nothing to do with us. Like all wars in the Middle East in our time. 9/11 aside, but that is whole can of worms. Hello Pearl Harbor..
What has Israel ever done for us? It blows my mind they dodged Trump’s foreign aid cuts for lack of contribution. I guess they’ve given us Epstein….. who blackmailed our most powerful to do bidding for…..whom?
What other contribution has Israel ever given? AIPAC - the clean money bribery arm?
A “hub” for regional control in the Middle East, who was only angry because of Israel to begin with?
This has Israel all over it. They’re the root cause of the problem below the solution they’re offering. Very shrewd.
A fun watch. Old but still relevant. https://youtu.be/RTksWA1I2UI?si=e9H35-36Adfja80m
Now strategically we could say that given escalating tensions with Russia and China, fostering regime changes in their oil supplying allies was a strategic way to avoid a real war with superpowers - which tracks with Israel as a hub of sorts. And from this viewpoint we used Israel vs. the other way around, but geopolitics are complicated and wormy and there is one group at the center of all of it, including the red scare dynamic kicked off by the Bolsheviks and leading up to US vs. Russia (and consequently China) today.
Common denominators at every angle.
You just made Doogie’s point LOL.
I admittedly have not caught up on all the comments.
Iran doen’t hate the US, the religious fanatic leadership does.
Religious fanatics hate everyone who doesn’t obey their religion. The lack of subtlety starts and stops there.
If the US weren’t allied with Israel, they’d still hate you/us. You decadent infidel.
Ah. Let me clarify:
When I said Iran, I was referring to the Iranian regime you’re alluding to.
Iran as defined above would not have been wantonly threatening to launch attacks on us despite oppositional religious view if not for our direct but unreciprocated support of Israel as an aggressor towards Iran. In fact they nearly universally attributed their proposed attacks to our support of Israel, which had no objective benefit for us, except to manage the tension created by supporting Israel to begin with.
And for what reason? What do we get from Israel aside from AIPAC bribes and Epstein blackmail schemes explicitly designed to shape foreign policy for… whom, exactly?
You know Trump gets shit for being too cozy with the Qatars and the Saudis too right? Imo he’s playing a bigger game than the Israel Bad people give him credit for.
China’s most important ally in the ME is…err, was, Iran. Don’t forget that aspect also.
