He was those things long before last week. Why is the national guard sleeping in the capitol? Trump.
I’m beyond shocked to find one of the biggest cheerleaders of the President didn’t do this (insert eye roll here). Despite it clearly being needed. Pence’s lack of a spine changes nothing.
Luckily his biggest mouthpiece for inciting lunatics stopped when Twitter took action. He has a million other outlets but doesn’t want to use them. He liked Twitter.
Sure in theory. The Army Secretary was empowered and delegated with the authority to activate and control the DC guard. And the mayor can request activation, so there are mechanisms by which the guard can be activated without Trumps say-so.
Well the Dem’s tried to impeach him over other issues. I didn’t hear them petitioning to remove Trump during the four years on the grounds of mental or physical incapacity, until he had lost the election. Likewise if Pence and the other Rep’ thought during his term that Trump was truly unfit on mental or health grounds, they would have got rid of him on justified grounds.
Twitter is the home of lunatics of all types, and guess what its dominated by lunatics on the left wing. They kicked off all the major dissenting voices long before the start of the election. Big tech shut down the only other major competition to Twitter ie Parler, by banning the sale and use of the app in their appstores.
I’m also surprised so many voices seem happy to have freedom of speech censored. Its fine because its someone they don’t like. When it comes around to someone you do like, or its about a subject that directly effects you, then you’ll all be squealing like pigs, about how unfair it is. No one will do anything to help you, because you didn’t stand up for a constitutional right when you had the opportunity to do so.
Nothing intentional with the word choice. I think who made the orders does matter because it points to a context for their motivations.
I don’t think the Deep State is ultimately in control of the NG call out. Doesn’t mean they don’t side with one or the other position, or that they unfiormly agree on every issue.
Deep State, exists from each term of government to the next, regardless of which party is in power.
Its own internal politics waxes and wanes depending upon who is employed and how long they have been in there, and how much influence they can exert.
Not just losing the election. The calls for the 25th amendment didn’t start until he invited a riot and tried to subvert the rule of law because of his ego. That’s a different story but you conveniently ignore the truth of the matter.
This is complete bullshit and you know it. They were not in compliance with the app stores’ regs. They were sent notifications to come into compliance and they declined.
Not to mention Parler has enough name recognition that they could have just offered the app download on their own site and been ok. But they had a lot of other people besides “big tech” leave them for being stupid.
Censorship is government derived. This was a private market dispute with private contracts at issue. Your statement is false and you are deliberately trying to reframe the problem. This doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies, but THERE IS NO CONSTITUTIONAL PROBLEM HERE.
Have you paid any attention at all? No they wouldn’t have. They didn’t stand up to him on anything for four years and didn’t even bother making a party platform. It was just whatever Trump thinks on that day we’re cool with.
Not in the least bit. All the biggest players had accounts until they incited an insurrection. They have a near monopoly on talk radio and have had a home on by far the most popular cable news channel.
Whose freedom of speech is censored? Is it Twitter’s job to make sure you can say whatever you want without consequences? When T-Nation bans someone is their freedom of speech dead? Who knew Chris had that much power? When he bans someone I bet he rips his shirt off and says “I killed your freedom of speech bitch!”
These websites have terms of service. They don’t owe us shit. And a million places on the internet exist for people to talk. People are just mad that they can’t be terrible on the most popular places. “I don’t want to talk about murdering the Vice President on 4chan. I want to talk about it on Facebook!” Everyone let them say the most idiotic things about the election even as every GOP court laughed them out. They didn’t blink an eye retweeting North Korea bringing in ballots through the harbors of Maine. But enter the capitol with plans to murder or kidnap politicians? Yeah that tends to get websites to examine themselves a bit and see if they should make changes.
You should probably stick to Australian politics. Your right wing talking points from whatever you read about America are lacking.
I had said it a while back and I’ll reiterate that people don’t want law and order, they just want the cops to beat up the other guy.
They don’t want freedom. They want to be irresponsible.
They don’t want representation. They want someone to blame.
We are a nation of wanton degenerates.
The people saying “First Amendment!” like it’s a magic word that allows them to say ridiculous shit where ever or when ever they want to are just the most recent manifestation of this.
Possibly. I don’t know to be honest. But I do know his authority is delegated to Army Secretary, and in this particular instance I don’t think anyone is listening.
Inviting a riot is your opinion, its wishy washy, and subjective. So far I haven’t seen or heard him do more than ask for people to protest and make their opinion known. Things went too far with the mob, but I haven’t seen any proof of actual incitement to use violence by Trump. I think it will be actually be very difficult to prove, at least fairly.
The mob’s feelings are a result of the dismissal of the election fraud claims, without even investigating them. Whether there was fraud or not , it makes many disgruntled voters believe there was because it looks like a cover up. Even the 2016 election claims from Dem’s of Russia influencing the results was investigated.
The compliance argument is complete bullshit. All these platforms ban people for vague reasons or no reasons at all, when it comes down to it they say we’ll do whatever we want because we are a private company.
Parler are apparently doing just what you mentioned. They are setting up their own server, in the meantime they are effectively silenced.
Once again you are being mealy mouthed and disingenuous. You can put it down to being a constitutional problem or not. It doesn’t matter there is still a problem regarding free speech. Your argument is not that there isn’t someone stifling free speech, just that they are entitled to stifle it under the current law. A current law that exempts them because they say they are not a publishing platform. When you decide who can and can’t speak on your platform you are actually becoming a publisher, so these private companies are not fulfilling their end of the agreement.
Now Trump was aware of this, he had a conference about it, but in his arrogance(he is an arrogance SOB), didn’t follow through with it and change the law, and it hurt his campaign.
Her opinions haven’t changed, despite the Dem’s being awarded the win in the election. In fact she thinks its even more important to address these laws regarding restriction of free speech.
A real shame Tulsi dropped out of politics, at least for the time being. She is someone that was not as polarising, and would have had a better chance of peacefully uniting America, rather than Trump, or Biden/Harris.
