As I understand it. With the exception of the PA Courts extending the date for mail in ballots; the changes were passed by state legislation, or the laws in the states passed by the legislative branch granted boards the discretion to make changes as they saw fit.

That’s my point, @doogie.
The people who run elections in the States are continuously looking at what they can do better the next time, even when they are dealing with a minimal amount of questionable or flawed ballots. (Which there will always be as long as humans are part of the process).
But to call what they did in 2020 a complete fraud; and that it was somehow rigged against one single candidate…and for the person leading the charge being the President of the United States…the President of the United States… shouldn’t be condoned by anyone.
A couple things.
I read that capitol police have a $500 million budget for 2000 officers and their own intelligence department closely associated with HSA/NSA/CIA (for obvious reasons). They claimed they were unaware of the threat, and were thus unprepared. How in the fuck? Did they forget to check facebook, or ANY MSM over the past 2 months? Capitol Police Chief has resigned. Either next level negligence, or complicity.
Sensitive material was stolen from congress during the riot. Sensitive material was accessed during the riot. Sensitive areas were accessed during the riot. It would be very unlikely that foreign agent/s would not have been part of the protest and then taken advantage of this remarkable situation to get inside congress with ZERO oversight. Another layer of the serious national security breach encouraged and fomented by our current commander in chief.

I don’t think it would make a difference to them (at least not the vast majority). That doesn’t mean I think it is an unworthy goal by itself.

I don’t necessarily see it as excusing anything, but I do believe the messenger matters so I suppose I am cutting him more slack than some others.
I agree about the timing.
I’ve now lost a handful of longtime friends because I won’t support the conspiracies and I condemn the traitors that attacked the Capitol. I voted for Trump twice and I still agree with 95% of his policies, but it’s clear he and his minions believe in Trump First, not America First.
@ doogie - I’m sorry you lost friends over this but I’m glad to hear that you won’t support conspiracy theories. That’s why I won’t engage in person with Trump supporters who do support conspiracy theories. I’ve got a cousin who’s like a brother to me who is full on in deep with all the lies. I can’t and won’t discuss this type of thing with him as it won’t lead anyplace good.

This is a hard time man. That seriously sucks, this is the time we need good friends more than ever, so I’m sorry. It seems like beyond the obvious party division we’re more fragmented than ever right now. I’ve got a brother that I don’t talk politics with because of this type of worry. I dont think he’s swallowed the conspiracy theories, but he’s very black/white, binary team oriented and I’d rather have a relationship with him. My dad is different, more like myself although more conservative, and I think this attack on the Capitol really hurt him from multiple angles (he served during 'Nam).
Apparently some of the odious ‘not white supremacist’ youtubers were at the capitol building (Nick Fuentes and Baked Alaska) and are begging Trump for a pre-emptive pardon.
Those two cretins probably won’t like federal prison, but play stupid games and you’ll win stupid prizes.
Trump has utterly vapourised any centre right support, and totally torpedoed his future chances. This has gone from a ‘not so bad’ scenario for the GOP, to a disaster area.
Edit: As of November, the GOP had a reasonable chance of holding the senate, and the DNC has a majority as narrow as a bee’s dick to work with. Now they get Kamala as a tie breaker, and the congressmen are all running for cover. Superb job, truly 5d chess.

Another defendant was charged with assaulting a police officer with a hockey stick. What does does it mean to continue flying the Trump flag, and wearing the MAGA hat loud an proud moving forward? Ill be thinking some combination of enemy of america, conspiracy theorist, mental midget, racist. Conservative values, and even policy/politics in general have been removed from my association with what trump stands for. Maybe im just late to the liberal party on this one, but fuck anyone who is proudly still on the trump bandwagon.

I wouldn’t say enemy of America or racist describe the majority left on the wagon per se (though there are no doubt racists).
I would say conspiracy theorist for sure. Or just a completely blind “team” picker. Like straight ticket voter on steroids.
I’ve never associated Trump with conservative policies, except insofar as the legislature pushes for them. The man isn’t.
It means you are more devoted to Trump than the country. Period. It’s hard for people to admit he let them down this badly, but at some point, you have to cut bait.

I think it’s hard for a lot of people. They have decided that Trump is America or at least what is great about America. So to them an insult on him is the same as attacking the country. He’s become a religious figure almost to them. They have been too invested for too long to consider the idea that he isn’t right about it all.
Someone who works in another office (not the one I lead) at our company had a Facebook share post “at the Capitol tonight Patriots vs the Stealers.”
